Kaiya was finally joined to Tyler in holy matrimony in the exquisite hotel. During the celebration, Kaiya noticed Jalissa and Justin sneaking away. She shook her head with a grin on her face.
“I’m so sorry for doubting your love and faithfulness to me,” she told her husband as they had their first dance as a couple.
He shrugged, smiling. “Considering all our past misunderstandings, I understand, but I need you to trust that I will never hurt you. You and our daughter mean the world to me. This is our second chance, and I don’t intend on taking it for granted.”
“I trust you, Ty, and I love you,” she declared with pent-up emotion. “Thanks for making me the happiest woman in the world.”
“Thank you, too, for accepting me. I love you.”
Epilogue
Three Months Later
Chuckling, Tyler watched his wife as she closed her eyes tautly.
“Are you going to read it or not?” he asked when she still didn’t open her eyes after a few minutes.
“It isn’t time yet,” she replied, biting the insides of her cheek.
He rolled his eyes. “Babe, it’s over five minutes now.”
“Really? I thought it was just a minute.”
Laughing, he reached for the test strip she was holding tautly in her hand.
“Do you want me to read it?”
Her tongue darted across her lips. “Yes, please.”
He tried to take it from her, but she still held on firmly to it. “Babe, please let go.”
Exhaling loudly, she softened her grip, and he took the test trip from her. Letting out a breath he didn’t know he had been holding, he looked at it, and elation went through him.
“It’s positive!”
“What!” Her eyes opened and enlarged.
They were on a Disney cruise honeymooning with their daughter. Kaiya had decided to take a test since she didn’t feel well. He had not been surprised that she had even come with the test strips. They’ve been spending most of their free time in bed with no protection. Kaiya had moved into his house and his mom had moved into Jalissa’s condo to give them privacy.
“You’re pregnant!”
“Are you sure?” she questioned as she took the test strip from him. Her eyes widened. “I am! We’re going to have a baby!”
He drew her into his arms and kissed her until they were both breathless. Her eyes glazed and took on a faraway look. He knew she was remembering when she discovered she was pregnant with Lili. Kaiya had begun talking to her parents again recently. Lili had asked to meet her grandparents and they had allowed it.
Richard who never directly apologized to Kaiya for taking her child away from her, did apologize to his granddaughter when she asked him why he didn’t want her in his life. It was an emotional day to see Richard’s reaction to the young girl. Kaiya allowed her parents access to Lili, whenever the little girl spent time with her aunt Kalilah.
He cradled her face and placed a kiss on her forehead. “Don’t think about it, babe. This time around, we’re going to create pleasant memories to replace the previous one.”
She nodded with tears in her eyes. “I can’t wait to tell Lili. Now she’ll stop with the insinuations of us giving her a baby brother.”
Tyler laughed with gusto. “She’s going to be overjoyed.” He cuddled her into his embrace. “I love you, babe. Forever and always. I can’t wait to meet the addition to our family.”
Smiling, she replied, “Me neither.”
His hand went to her stomach where his child nestled. “I think it’s going to be a boy.”
Kaiya threw back her head with joyous laughter. “Oh, really?”
