Changing out of her dance clothes into a floral dress, she walked out of the dance studio. These days, she no longer favored sweatshirts and leggings. Tyler loved seeing her in dresses, and so she had gone shopping with Jalissa. Her hair was now perpetually allowed to let loose across her back except when she was dancing and doing chores. Anything to please the man she loved.

The smile on her face turned into a frown when she got to the mall where Tyler was working on a project and was told that he had already gone out to lunch.

Crestfallen because she just missed him, she left the place and slowly walked out. The thought of eating alone wasn’t appealing to her, so she decided that she would just make herself a sandwich when she got back to the office.

Kaiya’s eyes nearly pooped out of their sockets when a few meters down the road, she spotted Tyler walking out of a hotel with Erin.

Her heart sank to her feet with a loud thud when she saw Erin lean into Tyler and laughed heartily at something he said.

Oh, he wasn’t only a cheat but a comedian as well?

Anger surged through her at his duplicity. How could he do this to her? How could he do this to them? She had foolishly thought things were going smoothly for them. Her mind had hoped that in the near future, they would make their relationship official and maybe expand on their family.

“How foolish of me!”

The man was only interested in having sex with her. Why he had felt the need to profess a fake love for her was beyond her. Maybe he got high just knowing that she loved him when it wasn’t reciprocated. Perhaps it was just a revenge plot of his that he had to carry out even though the truth had come out about her innocence.

Oh, she had the mind of pulling over, going to him, and giving him a piece of her mind. She would tell him never to come near her again. Since they still had their daughter between them, she would find a way for her to be with the little girl without seeing him. It would break the little girl’s heart that things didn’t work out between her and Tyler, butshe refused to be with a liar and a cheat.

Kaiya abruptly changed her mind and drove away. She had more class than to be seen yelling at a cheating man for all and sundry to see. She would give him a piece of her mind as soon as she saw him.

Distraught, Kaiya drove back to the studio in breakneck speed. Thankfully, her helpers wouldn’t show up until later at 3 pm when the first dance lessons would start.

Tears stung her eyes, but she refused to shed them. Tyler would never have her tears again. She hastily sniffed them back even though her heart felt as if an invisible hand was squeezing it.

“How could Tyler do this to us?” she questioned continually as she paced her office.

She struggled to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it was fruitless. How would he explain the lunch date?

No wonder he seemed so distracted lately, almost sneaky. Twice he had left her presence to answer a phone call. Was he tired of her already? Had she given in too quickly? But how did one play hide and seek with the man you loved? It didn’t make sense.

Unable to hold in her emotions and desiring someone to talk to, she reached for her phone and dialed her sister’s number. Unfortunately, it went to voice mail. Then she dialed Jalissa’s number. Her best friend didn’t answer the call either.

“What’s going on? Where’s everyone, and why are they not picking their calls?”

Frustrated, Kaiya gave into the tears that were threatening to burst her tear ducts. She wept at losing the man she loved and the future that she would have had with him. Her day was ruined, and there was nothing she could do about it.

When Tyler dropped off Lili at 5 pm, her second and final dance lesson from the intermediate class, she wanted to throttle him for lying to her.

He had the audacity to move forward to plant a kiss on her lips. Moving away from his intention swiftly, she focused her attention on her daughter. She caught the surprise on his face from the corner of her eye.

Served him right!

The only reason she was silent was because she didn’t feel like making a scene in front of her students and, more importantly, their daughter. She had thought long and hard after she contained her tears. She figured she would just try to get some type of custody arrangement, and although it would be hard, she would end things with Tyler.

“Dammit, what’s going on?”

Tyler raked his fingers through his hair as he observed Kaiya’s face. When he arrived at the dance school a few hours ago, he had noticed the coldness in her. He had thought she was just having a bad day. But now, hours later, he noticed her bad day was as a result of him.

The woman he loved was relating well with the kids and her employees, but she was treating him as if he had the plague.

Her smiles as she stiltedly talked to him didn’t quite reach her eyes. Her words were short and curt. She was putting on an act, and he wondered for the umpteenth time what put her in that mood. He had a huge surprise planned for her, and he didn’t want anything to go wrong.

“Is something wrong, Kai?” he asked for the third time, almost at the end of his tether since he didn’t know what else to do.

Turning cold eyes on him, she replied, “Stop asking me that question, Tyler. Are you making me out to be a liar? I’ve told you repeatedly that I’m fine.”
