Her face was open, begging him to believe her and he smiled softly, dropping the subject. He took her hands and led her to his computer, he sat in his chair and then pulled her unto his lap. He maneuvered his hands around her to operate the computer.
He clicked on an icon and the 3d model of a building popped up. She gasped and he relished that sound, “Wow, what’s that?”
“Your new school babe.”
“What? How? When? Who did this?”
“I spent all days yesterday and today working on it. I spoke to Finn and on yours orders, we can demolish the building you bought and rebuild this. What do you think?”
“You did this for me?” She turned her tearful eyes towards him.
“I did. I want you to know that you can come to me for anything, Kai. I’ll do anything to put a smile on your pretty face.”
“I love it Ty. When can we make this building a reality?
“We can start demolishing the building in two days and have your new building started within a week.”
“Aww thanks Ty. I really appreciate this. You’re an amazing architect.” She placed kisses all over his face and he bit the tip of her nose.
She laughed, the sound making his head lighter and his loins tightened in response. He took a deep breath to get himself in order before speaking, “I’m really sorry about the distance between us.”
“I forgive you,” she said with a laugh.
He turned back to the computer and started describing each feature of her dance school. “I designed each room with floor to ceiling windows so they could see the outside and feel the beauty from outside and within, adagio floors, mirrors and soundproof walls.”
He finished in a rush and she turned to face him, straddling him and kissing his lips with full force. He kissed her back just as fiercely.
He hoisted her up on his body and stood up with intentions of getting to his bedroom –relying more memory than sight. He climbed up the stairs with ease then bumped into the side of the door and they broke the kiss to laugh. She attached her lips on his again and they finally made it to the bed where he loved her all night.
Chapter 16
“Mommy, take a look at what I drew,” Lili called to her mom the following day.
Kaiya wondered if she would ever get used to Lili calling her ‘Mommy.’ They were words she thought she would never hear herself being called. Even though she loved children to a distraction, getting pregnant again had frightened her immensely. She had feared that what happened with her supposed dead son wasn’t a one-off thing and that it would continue happening, shattering her heart.
Kaiya left her painting to look at that of her daughter’s. She saw that Lili had painted four people. Three of them looked like Kaiya, Tyler, and Lili. She couldn’t decipher who the fourth person was. Could it be Max or Millie? Why not draw both of them?
Munching on a piece of the cake that her mom bought on their way to her house, Lili explained her drawing.
“That’s Daddy, you, me, and my baby brother.”
Kaiya’s eyes misted. Lili wanted them to be a complete family. She desperately wanted that too, but it was up to Tyler. Even though things had been going steady with them, Lili’s father hadn’t given any indication that he wanted things taken to the next level.
“Thanks, sweetie.” Kaiya hugged her daughter and took a piece of the cake.
Kaiya cocked her head to the side when she thought she tasted something like nuts in it. She had specifically told the salesgirl that she wanted a nut-free cake.
Kaiya’s suspicions were proven right when she saw her daughter turning blue in the face. Lili began to gasp for air, and her mom screamed.
“Lili!”
She shook her daughter and tried to remove the remnants of the cake from her mouth. Completely freaked out as her daughter continued to fight for air, she looked around for her phone.
“Dear God, Please. Dear God, Please. Please don’t take my daughter away from me. Not now that I just found her.”
Tears poured down her face in waves. Carrying her daughter in her arms, all the while weeping, she went to her living room and retrieved her phone from the coffee table.
“Tyler! I don’t know what went wrong. Lili is gasping for air. I think there were nuts in the cake I bought.”
