She pressed into him, her hands sliding up his chest and around his neck, her body rising on tiptoe, eagerly seeking his lips once more.
Fox readily obliged, meeting the fierce hunger of her mouth with his own. He pulled her hard against him, one hand around her waist, the other burrowing into her hair, holding her lips to his.
She moaned and Fox nearly saw stars.
Bloody hell.
Why had it taken him so long to kiss his own wife? Hiswife?!
She fit against him with agonizing rightness, her curves perfectly formed to the planes of his body.
His lips drifted from hers, helpless in their need to explore, to learn every inch of her.
The delicate curve of her jaw.
The silky give of her throat.
He adored how easily he drew gasps from her. How she clung to his shoulders, desperate to bring herself closer. Fox happily obliged, roping his arms around her like steel and holding her tight.
She wanted him. He could taste it on her lips, feel it in the electric pull of her body, in the restless movements of her hands.
“Are you sure you want to stop at mere kissing?” he murmured into the space below her ear, inhaling deeply of her scent—fresh soap and traces of lavender.
She gasped.
Fox groaned.
“Please,” she panted.
“Please, what?” He needed her to say the words.
She stilled and pulled back slightly. Her eyes were glazed, passion-soaked, her lips plump and well-kissed.
It was a glorious look on her, Fox decided. He needed to ensure she wore it more often.
“I should like tae be your wife in truth.” The words came out rushed and breathy.
Hallelujah!
He kissed her then. Savagely. She met his need with her own.
Fox grinned against her skin. Had any woman ever been so frantic for his kiss?
He rather thought not.
He ignored the part of him that fretted in protest.
That he liked her more than was wise.
That women always left him, in one way or another.
He was too starved for physical connection, for companionship.
Leah was hiswife.
And she wanted him. And by all that was holy, he wanted her.
They kissed in the bothy for a long while. Until the rain stopped and the wind stilled.
