The bathroom was a longer walk than he had to make in his house, but he figured that putting it at the front end allowed room for a decent-sized shower.

The layout was elegant and simple. Even though he could barely make out the fixtures, he didn’t have to fumble around. He was becoming fond of this little house on wheels.

As he started back toward the bedroom, he paused. “Hey, Jordan,” he called softly. “Maybe I should get dressed while I’m out here.”

“Or you could come back and cuddle.”

“Yes, ma’am.” He took the steps like a pro this time around.

“I moved to the left. Your left.”

“Got it.” He climbed in and reached for her.

She snuggled against him, wrapping her leg over his thigh and pressing her breasts against his pecs. “I didn’t know I’d like this so much.”

“I should have brought more supplies.”

“I never thought of inviting you to stay with me instead of me staying with you.”

“We could, except we can’t be loud here.”

“Yeah, your place is better, and you don’t have the tricky walk and the tiny bathroom.”

“I didn’t mind it. Even in the dark I could find everything because it’s so well designed. That goes for the whole place. It’s ingenious.”

“I learned a lot with my first one, which I bought used. I had a detailed drawing to give the folks who built this.”

“You created the layout?”

“Yep.”

“Every time I turn around I find something else to admire about you.”

“Good grief. You’d better ease up on the compliments. I’m liable to get full of myself and be impossible to live with.”

“I can’t imagine that.” He combed his fingers through her hair. “Sounds like something that was said to you, though.”

“My parents, of course. Specifically my mom. I ignored most of what she said over the years, but that one’s on target. I have exacting standards. That can make a person hard to be around for any length of time.”

“What about Cole? Didn’t you live with him for a while?”

“Yes, but he’s my big brother and he’s so easy-going he’d put up with anything. I’m all he’s got and vice-versa.”

“You and I basically lived together for three days. I didn’t find you impossible.”

“Three days doesn’t count.”

“How about six days?”

“You can’t go adding these three to those three.”

“Sure I can. Six days is plenty of time if you’re paying attention, and I am. I don’t see you being a pain in the ass.”

“You called me stubborn when I didn’t want you going with me to get Fudge.”

“That’s not the same thing at all. In fact, you were trying not to be a pain. I was the pushy one in that scenario.”

He wished to hell he hadn’t called her stubborn. Her parents had probably used that word, too. Dios mio. Was this why she’d created a solo life on the road? If so, and he could change that damaging belief… he could change everything.
