“Doing what?”

“Using your super sexy voice to turn me on.”

He grinned. “I wasn’t aware my voice had that kind of power.”

“Aw, c’mon. You know you do it.”

“I don’t know that at all. Enlighten me.”

“You drop down a register and your voice takes on a velvety quality, especially when you throw in some Spanish.”

“Velvety?”

“It’s very effective.”

“I swear it’s unconscious, but thanks for letting me know I have a secret weapon.” He lowered his voice to a husky purr and gave her a heavy-lidded stare. “Eres hermosa y te quiero.”

She grinned. “I assume that’s your smolder.”

“Depends. Did it work?”

“Not when you lay it on thick like that. Subtle is better. Besides, I have no idea what you said. For all I know it was I’d like a burrito and two tacos to go.”

“Nope.”

“Then what did you say?”

“Does it matter? It sounds like it’s the delivery more than the content.”

“It’s both, so since I don’t know what those words mean, it loses steam.”

“I said you’re beautiful… and I want you.” Sensuality flowed through every syllable.

She went up in flames. “Oh.”

“Which you are and I do, despite trying my damnedest not to.”

“We… um… should probably change the subject.”

“Don’t blame me. You’re the one who said my voice turned you on.”

“We went off the rails when you told me about Kat and Eli getting frisky.”

“Well, since we’re off the rails?—”

“We need to get back on them.”

“Okay, but first let me say something.”

“Or not.” Her heart thumped faster.

“We won’t have this kind of privacy once we get to the ranch. I know you have objections to spending the night?—”

“Seriously, let’s not discuss it now.”

“But if you decide to, you’ll be welcome.”

She swallowed. Maybe they should hash it out before they arrived. “Spending the night could make you want to change things.”
