“I’ve been thinking about it all night,” I admitted.
“I know,” she reached over and took my hand in hers. “I picked up on that. Thank you for the cotton candy and even the Ferris wheel.”
“Thank you for saying yes to the date.”
Bringing her hand up to my lips, I dropped a kiss onto it. We made it through the fair parking lot and onto the main highway, slightly speeding to get back to Silver’s apartment.
“Damn,” she murmured and I looked over.
“What?”
“Dani’s been blowing me up,” she referenced her assistant.
“Everything alright?”
“Not sure.”
She was already calling her assistant back, so I adjusted the stereo and put on something soothing. Smokey Robinson’s voice began to croon out of the stereo asCruisinbegan to play. With ease, I drove along the highway and eventually Silver shrugged off Dani trying to call when she didn’t get in touch with her.
Not that I minded, I didn’t particularly like her assistant not that I could tell her that.
Finally we reached Silver’s apartment complex and she invited me up. We were laughing at me nearly tripping up the steps.
“And they pay you millions to cat….” The jingling of Silver’s keys were the only thing that could be heard as we stood looking at her apartment door slightly ajar.
“You locked this before we left right?”
“I did,” Silver looked away from the door, her appearance turning weary. Her brown eyes told me that she was freaked out.
“Stay here…”
“Wait, I should call the cops…”
Not listening, I stormed into the apartment flicking on the lights as I went. That was when I found all the chaos. Photos had been ripped off the wall, and shattered. In the bedroom all of Silver’s clothes seemed to have been shredded.
Turning around, I found her standing there. “I think you should call the cops for sure now.”
The police arrived within twenty minutes and took statements. Silver seemed terrified as they questioned her over and over as if she’d done this to herself. When they had left I pulled her into a warm embrace.
“Pack a bag,” I murmured.
“What?”
“You’re coming to spend the night at my place, and tomorrow we’ll get all this cleaned up and a camera doorbell put into place.”
“I’m not sure…”
Stepping back I gave her a look.
“It’s not up for debate, Sassy. Pack your stuff and let’s go.”
My sassy spitfire was ready in just a few moments, with a bag packed of things that hadn’t been cut up and destroyed. As we were coming down the steps of the apartment complex we bumped into Dani. She didn’t seem like she was in the mood to talk and rather annoyed at seeing both of us.
“Hey, I saw that you called,” Silver spoke and reached out to touch her shoulder.
Dani gave a tight smile and shook her off. “I was calling to try and hangout.”
“I’m sorry,” Silver replied. “I had no idea.”
