Then I heard her voice. My daddy wasn’t alone in his office. The babysitter was there too. She was whispering so softly that I couldn’t hear exactly what she said. Slowly, my ears adjusted to her tune.

“Just let me lick it,” Nautica said.

There were some pauses, and a few moans that filled my young ears. Sometimes, when my mommy and daddy were kissing and didn’t know that I was there, they would make those same sounds. The babysitter shouldn’t have been in the room. Did my mommy know what she was in my daddy’s office?

“I don’t think that’s a very good idea,” my father replied, his voice sounding breathy.

“It’s a very good idea, Mr. Knowles.”

“I’m married.”

My four-year-old stomach was feeling weird. Maybe I needed to go use the bathroom. I knew I shouldn’t have been listening, but I needed to talk to my daddy.

“And she never has to know what me and you are doing…”

It went quiet after a few minutes and then I heard my father moan.

“That’s itttt,” he seemed to be hissing like a cat.

“You like that don’t you?”

“Yes,” he hissed again.

Slurping sounds seemed to fill the air. I couldn’t take much more of this. Whatever was going on in the office, it just didn’t feel right. My tiny stomach was twisted up into a whole knot. Why wasn’t my daddy telling the babysitter to go away?

“Are you going to come for me, Mr. Knowles?”

I had no idea what in the world Nautica was talking about. I hated how her voice sounded too. Why did she sound like that, like she was all out of breath and something was in her mouth?

“Do you want me to come for you Filthy Girl?”

“Yes, I want I very much. I want you to come down my throat,” Nautica’s voice was making my skin itch.

I couldn’t take it anymore, I needed to see my daddy. I was sad, he was going away on business today. CUH-LUM-BIA…We had practiced saying the country’s name that he was visiting. There was a man there named Plueblo Escaro….I think.

The brass knob turned in my hand and I entered.

“Daddy,” I called.

Nautica stood up from where she’d been and quickly wiped her mouth. My daddy turned around in his seat. His face showed me that surprised lingered there. He hadn’t been expecting anyone to simply burst into his office.

“Princess, what are you doing in here?”

I paused, eyeing Nautica, who was looking shocked as well. I really didn’t like the babysitter at all.

“I wanted to talk to you. I don’t want you to leave...”

I pouted. When I pouted my daddy told me I could have anything in the world. It always worked and this time I knew it could work again.

“Mr. Knowles, we’ll finish talking later,” Nautica exited and I watched her go.

My dad just nodded. When she left, I went back to talking.

“Daddy, you just can’t go,” I said.

He smiled, “It’s just for a couple of days, princess.”

My lip began to poke out even further, “But why?”
