There were dead bodies everywhere.

This had Alistair written all over it.

My ears were ringing as I dragged Diamond onto my lap. “Di…you gotta wake up. Tiberius is waiting.”

She was so still, and I thought she might be dead. My bleeding hands searched her neck for a pulse and found one. It was strong so I was hoping she was just unconscious. Nathan came down the stairs carrying Elana in his arms.

“GET HER UP! GET HER UP! FOLLOW ME!”

We weren’t too far from the entrance. Just mere steps away…

Struggling, to lift Diamond, I managed to get her up and carried her out. Fire was racing everywhere and eating up the door frame; the doors had been blown off the hinges. The night air hit my face like strong perfume.

Breath entered into my body once again. I could breathe.

Sirens were wailing and coming. Someone was taking Diamond from me.

“Let us help, sir!” A paramedic said. “Are you hurt?”

Was I hurt?

Except for the wounds on my hands, I seemed to be just fine. “I’m fine..my wife.”

“THIERRY!”

I turned in the direction of the voice. Enzo and Trey were running towards us. They were both fine, covered in soot but they were fine. My adrenaline had kicked in. My limbs were shaking as I engulfed Enzo in a huge hug and a cry escaped my mouth.

“Are you okay?” I asked him looking him directly in the eyes.

He nodded. “We stepped out to get some air before it happened. We were looking for you. The guards are running around like chickens with their heads cut off.”

“This has to be Alistair,” Trey seemed to have read my mind. “We never thought he’d go this far but it has to be him. Where is Diamond?”

I jerked my thumb at the ambulance behind me. Diamond was on a stretcher and starting to come around. We all went over to her side.

“What happened?” she asked.

“You fainted like the true bell you are,” I kissed her forehead.

“Seriously…what happened,” she was frowning.

The air had ash in it, raining down on us like snow.

“An explosion, babe,” Trey said.

“Alistair,” Diamond said. “We need to check on Tiberius. Oh my God what if he’s done something to the baby.”

The paramedics cleared Diamond. They had more pressing matters to attend to but recommended that she go to the hospital. Somewhere lost in the fray was Nathan and his wife; I wondered where they’d gotten off to. Was Elena okay? What about Claudette and all the children that had been inside?

Morgan arrived shortly after I got through to her on the cell. We all climbed inside of the SUV and headed home.

“I’m fine,” Diamond declared once we were entering into the house. “Y’all are going after him aren’t’ you?”

“Yes,” I stated.

Diamond lifted onto her tippy toes. “Come back to me and your son, Thierry.”

Our lips came together like magnets. She stepped back and looked me deep in the eyes and then turned on her heel to go and tend to Tiberius. While we’d been riding in the car, Enzo and Morgan had been concocting a plan.
