When they saw us approaching, they all broke out in grins. “Damn!” Enzo exclaimed.
Trey and Carmen went to their men respectively. I stayed where I was on the last step and then did something out of the ordinary. My finger slowly crooked itself in a come-hither motion. Thierry was like a magnet and came to me when I called.
‘Tesoro…you look…”
“I know.”
He kissed my cheek and referred to my dress. “It’ll decorate the floor tonight, I promise.”
The doorbell to the house rang. Sophia the housekeeper from our last stay appeared and opened the door. Naomi stepped inside looking like a complete goddess. She had her hair wrapped in silver faux butterfly locs. The white dressed seemed so sheer and out of the ordinary on her that my mouth dropped open and so did everyone else’s.
“Hey yall,” she greeted. “Happy Birthday, Enzo!”
“You look beautiful.” We all took turns hugging and finally Enzo was rushing us out of the door. The parents of course had to fuss over the babies they were leaving behind. Tibs seemed to be fussy, and Jesse started to whine as well. The nanny had to push us out because she said she wouldn’t get any peace if we all stayed.
“You think he’s, okay?” I asked Thierry as he took my hand in his. It was my left hand, I watched as he rubbed over the spot where my ring was missing.
“He’s fine, Tesoro.”
“Hope so,” I murmured.
It felt like a current was running up my hand and through my body as he slowly rubbed lazy circle over the small spot of flesh. I didn’t dare glance to see what his face looked like. Everyone around us was still lit but I was feeling a little tired. Thoughts of pumpkin spice drifted through my mind.
We arrived at the restaurant and exited. A few guards were in a separate car. “No one is getting shot tonight, right?”
“Enzo picked this restaurant,” Thierry grinned.
I knew he was thinking about the night his brother had gotten shot as well. Our eyes drifted over to both Enzo and Trey and watched as they kissed, and he whispered something. Paul and Carmen were throwing coins in a fountain nearby.
Our ears could detect soft Italian music; violins and flutes stirring through the speakers as we stood on side of the street. People passed by, laughing and I felt the tension in my shoulder ease away as we went inside. After a few minutes we were seated.
“Welcome to Blu,” our waiter said. “You will find an excellent selection of wines on one side of the menu. Three of them that are highlighted are made locally. Tonight, the house special is Tuscan white bean chili chicken soup. I’ll leave you to decide.”
“Is it me or did he speak perfect English,” Carmen peered around Naomi.
All of our heads nodded in agreement. Naomi’s phone began to ding, and she picked it up her face immediately transforming into a huge smile.
“He’s here guys,” she was beaming from head to toe. “I’m gonna go out and grab him.”
We all smiled with excitement. Thierry’s hand had casually rested itself on my knee and the entire time we’d been talking to everyone it had slowly been exploring. I was barely able to contain myself when Naomi dipped away from the table. Her exit was the perfect excuse to squirm closer into his fingers as he leaned in slightly.
“So wet, Tesoro…all for me?”
Picking up the water glass, I spread my legs a little further and he softly bumped against my clit. With the water glass inches from my mouth, I offered him a slight smile. “All for you.”
After a few moments, Thierry’s fingers stilled. He had gone completely rigid in his motions. “What?” I asked and followed his gaze.
I couldn’t move.
Everything seemed to pass in slow motion. It was as if time had slowed down. The Devil himself had walked from the scorching pits of hell. And he was on the arm of my very best friend. My blood ran cold in my veins and both Alistair Giancana and Naomi stopped in front of us.
The water Trey had been drinking went across the room and both Enzo and Thierry stood immediately, the absence of his hand between my legs left me feeling a slight chill. Not to be out done, I stood too.
“Everyone,” Naomi smiled. “This is…”
“Alistair Giancana,” Thierry bit out. “We are very well acquainted.”
Naomi’s face became clouded in confusion; she had no idea what was going on. Carmen, and Paul were looking at the three of us like we’d lost our shit. My hand went to Thierry’s side.
