I watched her retreating form meet up with Marigold, her sister and they were out the door. Mari was starting her first day of work at the real estate office and answering phones. Enzo had decided to join forces with his wife, and they were expanding their mutually joined companies.

A sigh escaped my lips, and I began to spoon ice cream into my mouth followed by a snip of carrots. The taste hit me, and I began to gag. That was how things would go someday. Pushing away from the counter, I moved to the nearby bathroom and began to hurl up what I’d eaten. There wasn’t much that hit the toilet bowl, just a little bit of clear liquid.

“I’m starting to think you’re trying to kill me,” I told my unborn baby.

In response to my words, he gave a sharp kick and I muttered something even meaner under my breath. This kid was going to be half me and half his father, I feared for the day he learned to talk. Flushing the contents of my stomach down the toilet, I stood and checked my reflection.

My face looked a little puffy but otherwise, my skin looked clear and unblemished. Taking a cloth, I swiped at my mouth and headed out. I’d been put on bedrest because of the panic attack that I had suffered in the hospital, but I didn’t care what they said. I was fine.

As I was leaving from the bathroom, the female bodyguard, Enzo and his assistant were waiting at the door. I swiped up my keys and handed them to the guard. I wasn’t going to be caught slipping again.

“You understand the assignment?”

“Yes, ma’am,” the guard replied.

“Good, I need to go by the Magnolia Blook and The Deuce. Let’s get this day started. All of this needs to be done before my doctor’s appointment.”

“Good, I need to go by the Magnolia Blook and The Deuce. Let’s get this day started. All of this needs to be done before my doctor’s appointment.”

She gave a curt nod, and then headed out to start the car. Watching her go, I turned to Enzo. "Where'd you find her...Assassins Are Us?"

"Hey, you said find you somebody...I found you somebody," he shrugged.

"And she smells good as hell," his assistant murmured looking after the woman warrior that now had my car started and was patiently waiting.

She even seemed to fan herself and I knew that look. It was the same look that I had whenever I found a man so damn attractive, I could faint. Except, not lately. Nope, men were the furthest thing from my mind considering I had a little boy I was ready to meet.

"I'll see you all later," I gave a friendly wave over my shoulder.

The trek to the car was short enough. My new bodyguard had put on some jazz and drove carefully.

"So, ma'am, when's the big day?"

We locked eyes in the mirror, her brow quirked as she waited for an answer. I explained about the due date and my thoughts on baby names. She then took that time to remind me of her name because I had forgotten. This baby had my brain in a fog.

"It's Morgan, ma'am," she gave another smile.

"My brain is all over the place," I told her.

The first stop was atThe Magnolia Bloom. The place was busy as hell, and there were red, white and blue decorations all over the place. We were having a, Independence celebratory blowout sale that was lasting all month and people were lapping up jewellery. As soon as I stepped in the door, I wish that I'd simply called first.

Everything was fine and a few girls gave me a wave as I headed to the office, with Morgan hot on my trail. She opted to stay outside of the room but opened the door for me.

"This won't be long," I told her.

I settled into pouring over reports. There had been an influx in cash, apparently. My face felt weird and contorted as I frowned. I had to have been reading this wrong. Looking at the calendar I read that date again. Standing up, I went to the door and called for Nita. I had hired her during the Christmas rush but she'd been selling her ass off. She was going to eat her commission check up if this was right.

I heard a tap at the door, and she came in, giving Morgan a look. "Hey boss, what's up."

I pinched the bridge of my nose. "I have to be reading this report wrong?"

It was Nita's turn to frown. She came closer her pixie hair cut definetly fit her features. I knew a lot of men came in here just to buy jewelry from her some days claiming it was for their wives. She was stacked from head to toe.

"I'm confused," she said looking up from the sales report.

"You sold a million dollars worth of jewelry? On Thursday?"

A smile appeared on her features, the red lipstick that she wore made her teeth look like diamonds. "Yes, ma'am, I did. I’m connected with a certain rap trio…one of them came in looking to buy a bunch of diamond chains. Rings too."
