"Brother, go home," I repeated to Gabriel. "Let me handle this."
He nodded and soon disappeared. I closed my office up and headed out to deal with the police. I imagined if I'd been home, I would have been pissed for being called out at a time like this. The golden Rolex that decorated my arm told me it was already a few minutes past midnight. I cracked my neck and approached the uniform officers that were already taking statements. The thump of the music had ceased as and people were leaving.
"Fuck," I muttered under my breath.
Chapter 6- Simone
I heard the jingle of keys and suddenly the door flew open! The only thing I could do was throw my body carefully behind a bar cart in the corner of the room and pray to God that I wasn't discovered. Rug burn etched its way into my skin and I wanted to scream. A few plumes of dust tickled my nose.
Figuring that Lucien was gone for the night, I thought I'd had plenty of time to get through his house, undetected. He had left his desk lamp on and it had illuminated most of the room. I hadn't expected anyone to come into this office at this time of night. Shadows crawled along the wall and footsteps padded around the room. Just when I thought things would be going my way and I'd be undetected...
"AAAACHOOO!"
A sneeze escaped from my nostrils.
Afterwards, you could have heard a pin drop in China. Biting my lip, I stayed where I was until I was jerked up from my spot and came face to face with Lucien himself.
"What in the fuck are you doing in here?" he demanded with such authority that I almost broke down and told him.
Instead, I stood my ground and glared back just as hard as he was. The grip he had on my arm intensified and until I winced. He realized what he was doing and pushed me away.
"I asked you a question, Little Angel," he stepped back but his eyes never left my own.
"I was looking for my cell phone," I shrugged, finally giving an answer.
His face tightened. "How did you get in here?"
"So you know everything about me...know the fact that I like Key Lime Cheesecake...but you didn't know that I was once a thief." I frowned.
"Oversight," he stated.
"Indeed," I muttered.
"Don't worry," he said. "I won't underestimate you again."
"That's always the problem with men...underestimating women."
He watched me for a long moment and it made me become aware that I wasn't wearing a bra and I only had on an oversized t-shirt I'd found and a pair of the silk underwear that had been bought for me. He'd provided silk nightgowns, but they weren't my vibe. I was a men's boxers and t-shirt kind of girl concerning sleepwear.
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest. My nipples had become firm in the air under his gaze. The last thing I wanted this maniac to think was that I was enjoying him looking.
"Stop," he said.
"Stop what?"
"Uncross your arms," he said. "I want to see you."
I rolled my eyes again. "Can I get my phone back? Miguel is probably worrying...he knows how much my shop means to me. What it really means..."
Lucien closed in on me. With every step that he took, it forced me to inch backwards until I couldn't go any further. I was against one of the windows that was long and tall. Cold stung and bit into my back as I pressed up against it. Lucien stopped, his eyes had grown black as he braced his hands above my head.
"I said I wanted to see you," he stated.
Without warning his hands were pulling at the shirt. The sound of fabric ripping filled my ears and my eyes went wide. The white t-shirt was pulled apart until a jagged line appeared all the way to the band at the bottom of it.
My pert breasts were being kissed by the cold. All I could do was stare up into his eyes.
"I told you, Little Angel. I take what I want..."
