We all began to leave, but dad stayed back for some reason. I heard the punch and Davis’s nose break even though I’d been walking away. Kiara snorted, “Thor doesn’t take disrespect to his Angel. Plus, he sees mate as family.” If Dylan ever found out Eric had punched Davis for him, my husband would be in heaven.
Travis linked, “If Dylan finds out the magic Haley used gets Eric in front of Davis to have him punch him then my brother will make sure that happens every hour, on the hour.” I teased, “Dylan would never be so predictable.” Travis laughed.
I added, “It would happen at odd increments during the hour so Betty and Davis would think they were safe. There wouldbe no discernible pattern because Dylan takes pride in being unpredictable with his toys and their functions.” Travis smirked and me.
Jackie was waiting when we got back. Ramendle popped to me and gave me then Travis a hug. He chuckled, “My boy, you look so good. I’m going to see my grandchildren, but I didn’t want you three to worry. The Consort and I have handled the issue. Along with the Princess of course. She is delightfully fun, and I cannot believe anyone ever thought otherwise.”
Travis warned, “The Fairies are on it, but Davis will find a way to talk to Dylan about this.” Ramendle chuckled, “No, he won’t. Haley has included all kinds of communication in her charm. She’s been planning it with Aiden for a month.” Wow. Eric really did just line up the pieces for this party.
Kiara said, “Thor really does love our mate as family.” Clearly. He was taking literally no chances. Ramendle continued, “Those people will not ruin Dylan’s fun. Farrin said he looked quite jolly and my Saseditle heard about this party Dylan used to throw. You can bet his momma isn’t going to let anyone steal this from our adopted son.”
Saseditle was his mate, and she’d also adopted Dylan and Travis. I hugged him again saying, “You guys are the best.” Travis agreed, “Thanks Dad.” Ramendle stood taller because he loved hearing Travis and Dylan call him that.
Ramendle assured him, “I’ll always protect you, son. Now, I’m off to find my grandchildren and give them gifts.” Travis snorted, “I cannot believe Dylan got you in on his whole giving Christmas presents in July deal.” I shot him a look. Travis admitted, “Ok, I heard that when I said it out loud and I can in fact believe it because it’s Dylan.”
Ramendle chuckled, “Fairies hardly need reasons to give presents, but it’s a lovely tradition to spark some joy into amonth that could use some cheer.” Ramendle took off. Lucas said, “Dylan’s using my credit card to plan Dylanmas.”
Travis asked, “Why the hell are you smiling then?” Lucas admitted, “Maybe I missed the party too. It was always his thing, and my beta went bigger and better every year. He planned practically from the moment the party ended. I used to hear about the Dylanmas all the time. It was fun and I’ll bet when he comes home, my best friend will even look younger.”
He would because Dylan always had this pup like joy to him when Christmas was involved. Kiara purred, “Mate will look so hot.” Yeah, I was definitely going to jump him, and I could hardly be blamed. My man was incredibly attractive.
Travis asked, “Did everyone read the part about having to shop at Kris’s shop alone?” I gasped, “What?” I looked at the back of the invitation and nearly laughed. Lucas groaned, “Great. Dylan’s already started to get Eric because this about him not going with Haley.”
Travis laughed, “Yeah, well that tidbit should’ve been seen from a mile away. Alpha bloods though. Clearly, someone told Haley about the party since she was plotting to keep Davis away.” Travis was wrong though because Eric did see it all coming and was welcoming it.
Eric started this entire thing in motion. I wondered why Eric didn’t want more people to know what a deeply caring man he was. Kiara offered, “If his mother was ours, I would hide it too. She’s so mean all the time, and her wolf is always sleeping.”
Travis did know that Eric was caring and the slight smirk on his face told me he knew Eric planned it all somehow. Kiara continued, “Not that I blame Kenna for sleeping. I’d want to escape that woman too. Kena is far more tolerable than her human.” Yeah, I didn’t care for Cassandra, but I didn’t really have to interact with her.
Mom’s phone rang and she answered, “Hi, Cassandra.” Mom linked, “I’m praying to Selene she didn’t get a tattoo on her forehead. I just got this phone and the speaker will break.” I nearly laughed. Cassandra boasted, “I’m speaking at a public function on Christmas Eve. It’s a very prestigious event. I’ll have to arrange to be popped there and back for Christmas.”
I covered my mouth as my mom walked away. The second she was out of earshot our group started laughing. I asked, “How did they pull that off on such short notice?” Emmaline declared, “Haley is that gosh darn good.”
Travis linked, “Except Haley had a heads up, clearly.” I replied, “I’m sure she caught onto our plans.” Travis snorted, “Sure, it was us.” I grinned at him. Out loud, Travis said, “There is literally no way Cassandra was going to be invited to Dylanmas.”
Emmaline asked, “Because she’s the Grinch?” Travis answered, “Yes. Have you not heard Dylan call her Mommy Queenie Meanie, the Grinch who stole Black Mountain’s cheer?” Emmaline admitted, “I have not, but that really does seem to fit.”
Lucas told us, “Dylan is running home.” I grinned asking, “Did he link you? Does he sound happy?” Lucas snorted, “Eric linked me and no, he did not sound happy.” Eric really could’ve been an actor, because I knew for a fact he was happy.
Kiara said, “The part about going to the shop alone could actually annoy Thor.” Maybe, but Eric would always be Eric. The man always expected the unexpected. It was pretty damn hard to get anything by him. So, he’d be prepared for things to be different at the party.
I spotted Fang running with a certain pep in his gate. Kiara purred, “Mate is so handsome.” He was. Dylan shifted back and my eyes narrowed on part of him. Kiara demanded, “Get on that, Lacy.” I told her, “I will.” Emmaline snapped him pants.
I linked her, “Why?” Emmaline snorted, “Hey, I’ll help you go into heat in September, but I can’t have my mate’s head explode from the lustful look on your face while you are looking at your mate’s package.” Lucas would be fine. Kiara purred, “Mate is so hot when he talks about the economy.”
Yeah, people liked to think that Dylan was all fun and games, but he did actually know a lot about topics I couldn’t grasp. Davis hated that Dylan didn’t major in economics, because Dylan was actually considered an economical genius.
Kiara scoffed, “I’d say Davis has to know mate does have a degree in economics, but he didn’t even notice mate wasn’t throwing his annual party.” Yeah, Dylan got his Bachelor of Economics degree online because he didn’t want Davis to know he was doing it. I was so proud of my husband for it. My man was fun and smart.
I linked Danver, “Your cocktails are up.” Danver chuckled, “Thankfully, I have a literal menu since you gave me a warning. This is a good thing you’re doing. Dylan needed this and so did you.” Everyone needed it really.
I linked Travis, “Dylan already figured out it was a set up. I thought the drinks waiting inside would’ve tipped it for him.” Travis chuckled, “Dylan has always been very good at seeing when things are set up. Life is a puzzle to him.” That was true.
I linked mom, “Did you get Finn and Buttercup?” Mom answered, “Yes, I have them with Ramendle while your dad tries to talk sense into Davis.” I really didn’t understand why dad bothered. There was no talking sense into that man.
I couldn’t stop smiling, and neither could anyone else, while Dylan went on about his party. I led him upstairs. Emmaline linked, “Get your Christmas on, girl!” I laughed, “I definitely will. Are you joining this Christmas fun?” Emmaline chuckled, “It’s obviously a new tradition, and Fairies love those. I’m basically honoring my roots by joining in.” I laughed then gasped.
I asked Emmaline, “Did you tell Haley that?” Emmaline replied slyly, “I have learned from the best how to wind up the people around me. It’s really helping morale when you think about it. It’s kind of a new pack tradition among, well, all the allies. Even Theo because I got Idel in on the whole sexy Christmas once a month deal.” I knew that situation made my sister in law sad. Hell, it made us all sad.
