Dot cautioned herself to be patient. He was worried.“Because Organised Crimes arrived today and I’ve had to deal with them.”
“How about we eat and then discuss things?”Gretchen suggested, glancing at her son, Jordan.
Yeah, it was a good idea not to speak about Stonefish in front of the children. They’d both been kidnapped to force their parents’ hands, and the less they knew the better.
“The next time you speak with her, tell her to contact Mum and Dad.They’re frantic.”
Dot should have thought of it herself.“I will.”
They chatted while they ate, Sam and Sherlock talking about the progress of the expedition.“We had several treasure hunters turn up today,” Sam said, glancing at Dot.
She stifled her groan.“Did they give you any trouble?”
“Not really.”Sam handed over his phone.“Recognise them?”
She nodded.“That’s Isaac and Henrique Farnham. They’re mechanics.I’ll stop by tomorrow and have a word.”
“I’d appreciate it,” Sam said.“Oliver’s talking about camping out there in case more try at night.”
“By himself?”
“Maybe. One of his students has the worst case of seasickness, so he doesn’t want to subject them to overnighting on the boat as well, but it would be more efficient to do so.”
“Are you all right with that?”
Sam shrugged.“He’s the client, and it works in our favour to make it hard for Stonefish to use the area.”
“OK.Just don’t engage with anyone.Call me.”
Sam smirked but didn’t agree.
She closed her eyes and let out a slow breath. These army men would be the death of her.
“Don’t tease Dot, she’s having a hard week.”Penelope squeezed her hand.“They won’t do anything foolish.”She raised her eyebrows at Sam.“Will you?”
His smirk disappeared.“We’ll be careful.”
Not quite the same thing, but the best she would get.
When they finished dinner, Faith stood.“Lara, do you and Jordan want to go on an evening ride?”
Lara’s eyes widened.“Yeah!Do you want to?”she asked Jordan.
“That would be cool.”
“All right.Let’s go saddle up.”
Lara was halfway to the door when she spun around, causing Jordan to almost crash into her.“You’re going to talk about stuff with Dot, aren’t you?”
Clever girl.
“That’s generally what we do when we invite friends over,” Georgie said.“Talk about stuff.”
Lara put her hands on her hips.“You know what I mean—treasure stuff.”
Jordan perked up.
“It’s nothing either of you need to hear,” Gretchen said, and Darcy nodded.
