“But they love you both,” Faith said. “If Darcy can’t see how you feel about each other, I’ll talk to him.”

Matt’s grip on her hand relaxed and Georgie could have kissed Faith. “You ready?”

“Yeah.” Matt answered.

Amy opened the door and they filed out, Georgie hand in hand with Matt. He froze on the porch and Georgie glanced at him. He stared across the yard at the house where both Brandon and Darcy were waiting on the verandah, Brandon with his arms crossed.

They must have seen Amy and Faith leave and wanted to know what was happening.

“Come on,” Georgie murmured and tugged Matt down the steps. Darcy frowned and folded his arms across his chest.

They had to be kidding. Since when did they care about who she dated?

Both Faith and Amy said something to their respective partners as they walked past and the men uncrossed their arms but didn’t stop frowning.

Nerves skittled over her skin. This was way more awkward than she’d thought it would be. Maybe Matt had been right to be worried.

Georgie moved onto the verandah, so her brothers didn’t have the advantage of height on her. “Matt and I are dating.”

Matt coughed and cleared his throat before slipping his arm around her waist.

“Since when?” Darcy asked.

“Tuesday.”

Darcy raised his eyebrows. “That explains your good mood this week.”

Matt nodded.

“Congrats,” Brandon said. He raised his eyebrows at Georgie. “What about ‘no more secrets’?”

Georgie blushed. “No more from now.”

“I’ll hold you to that.” He grinned and wandered inside.

Georgie relaxed a little but kept her gaze on Darcy. He was the one Matt was most worried about.

“Can I have a word to Matt alone?” Darcy said.

“No,” Georgie said. “Did you take Tess aside and have a word to her?”

“No, but you did,” Darcy answered.

Shit. How did he know that?

“Go on, Georgie,” Matt said. “We won’t be long.”

Men. She kissed his cheek and moved into the kitchen, pleased when the flyscreen door shut with a bang behind her. Lara hugged her. “I’m so happy! Matt will be my real uncle now.”

“Slow down, La La.” Georgie grinned. She glanced towards the door, hoping they wouldn’t be long.

Lara tugged on her hand and whispered, “Why didn’t you tell me? I told you about Jordan and you said you didn’t like anyone.”

Georgie couldn’t ignore the slightly hurt expression on Lara’s face. She drew Lara down the corridor away from the others. “Because I didn’t think he liked me, and I was embarrassed.”

“So what changed?”

Georgie smiled. “I got mad at him, and I just blurted it out.”
