And while he would forever hurt because of what Graham had chosen, by giving him an ultimatum that he couldn’t handle, he wasn’t ready to let him die.

But Graham was.

Clearly.

So, he’d talk to him, and then, he’d get his ass back on the jet, so he could goANYWHEREbut here. He’d forgive him not for himself, but for Graham. The moments they’d had were amazing, and if he let him die, that would all be tarnished.

Too many soldiers took their lives, and he didn’t want his ex to be a statistic—and on his shoulders as guilt.

Coming to this place wasn’t good for Michael, and he instinctually knew that.

This was his last mission with this man, and then, he would be finally free.

‘To err was human, but to forgive was divine.’

And now, it was time to let it go.

Maybe that was why he couldn’t find a mate. He was still rage-filled over Graham.

Well, that stopped tonight.

Seeing him hurt, but he was strong enough to walk away. He’d found love again, albeit for a very short time. Maybe, just maybe, there was someone out there who could save him back.

That’s all he wanted.

Michael had to always be the hero, and instead, he needed to be saved once in a while too. If he could find one person to save him, that would be his sign.

That would save him from being alone, and he knew it. That would be his new mission, once he set Graham free. Michael was tired of being angry.

Too.

Damn.

Tired.

It was time to set both of their burdens free.

Walking around the castle, he found the back of the place, where he’d walked into the biggest shock of his life. Just as he was about to go through the gate, he heard it.

There was a primal wail so horrifying, he went for a gun—one he wasn’t wearing.

As he listened, it echoed, and it was terrifying. It was that of some wounded animal.

That resonated.

Then, that’s when it hit him.

That was Graham.

Moving closer to the barn, he listened, and he saw a path down to a lake, and one that headed into the trees.

At first, he wasn’t sure he’d heard what he’d heard. After all, he’d been debriefed by Tony as to what was going on here by way of spooks and ghosts.

Speaking of the devils…

That’s when he saw them.

And it caught him off guard.
