I watch Dondi disappear and lean on it looking at Elmer’s back. I still want to beat his ass but I had to ask myself what Oran would do at a time like this.

“You know, since you’re so curious, I’m the best person to tell you. Karessa’s pussy is divine.” He turns to me, eyes blazing as I talk. “It hugs me like a glove and gets so wet for me, I want to live in it.”

“Shut up you little shit!” Spittle gathers at his bottom lip, giving me a glimpse of the manic man beneath.

“I thought you’d want to know. She’s wild too. I have the scratches on my arms to prove it. Want to see?” He takes a step towards me; his rage builds and I’m starting to see why Oran likes pushing people’s buttons. “She makes the sweetest cooing noises when she’s about to cum.” Another step. “She is eager, too. My wife rode the hell out of me before this meeting. I can still smell her on my fingers. It’s nice knowing I’m the only one who gets a taste. Hell, even your son has seen her fuck.”

That breaks him. He charges at me but I move while opening the door so he falls his dumbass into the hallway on his knees. I kick him on his ass so he falls flat. Andres is standing at the end of the hall. Elmer rolls over in time for me to punch him in the jaw one good time before he’s dragged off my Andres’ men. They go left. Andres tilts his head, silently telling me to go right. I do as I’m instructed and see Dondi and Nikolai waiting for me.

Dondi pats my shoulder just as we hear two gunshots. “I’m glad you’re okay but don’t talk about my daughter like that again.”

“You said no audio,” I point out.

He shakes his head. “There isn’t but I know where you had to go to get that reaction out of him.”

I chuckle and shake my head. “I simply said she’s the sweetest girl I’ve ever met.”

Dondi points at me. “Don’t play with me. Take care. We’ll check in later.”

With that he slips into the town car. The chauffeur closes the door then jogs around to take him home.

My mind goes to Oran though. He just lost his last parent. Elmer was a shitty parent but it doesn’t mean he won’t feel some of the hurt. I may be biased but I think the alternative would’ve hurt him more.

Chapter Twenty

Karessa

I showup at the private gym with a box full of Belgium desserts. I don’t want things to be awkward with Nikolai. Especially since I’m so grateful that he saved Jagger’s life. I would be in such a different state of mind today if that didn’t happen. He greets me with his eyes. His hair is in a topknot as he studies me. That man has a mean poker face. If he feels any kind of way about me being here, his face won’t tell me. I give him my best smile but he just nods his head toward the door to the gym. The amused man that kept me from fighting the nurse is gone and replaced with the usual.

“Nik! We can’t keep meeting like this.”

“Nikolai,” he corrects me.

“What, no chasing or carrying today? I think that’s more fun.” My joke falls flat because he just gives me a blank look.

I slide my peace offering and appreciation gift on the desk. Nikolai just looks down at it then back to me.

“I went to a Belgium bakery and got these for you.”

The big grump just pushes the box to the side and fixes his icy eyes on the security monitors. That didn’t work. Trusting that Jagger wasn’t bullshitting me, I go for the last tactic I have left. Last year, a local up and coming fashion designer asked my sister and me to do a lingerie and swimwear photoshoot for their line. One of the outfits wasn't released in time so those photos never went into the promo. This year the set was released but it wasn’t exactly like the one I modeled so that set of photos never saw the light of day. I reach into my gym back and pull out an autographed copy of me in a red, sheer lingerie set. My butt is facing the camera and I’m looking over my shoulder. My wig was mid-back length and black with loose waves. I wore red velvet gloves and a heart headband. The back of my panties were cut into a deep V but had lines that lead to a heart over the crack of my ass.

“How about an exclusive autographed photo?” I slide it across the desk and his eyes grow a smidge when he sees it. “Be nice and I might have more in the vault.”

A ghost of a smile tugs at his lips but he kills it fast. Satisfied, I go to find Jagger. He’s standing in the middle of the room sans shirt, drinking water while his sweats hang enticingly low.

“Did I see my wife using her body to make friends?” He waves his phone at me, showing me the app with the security feed.

I shrug because I’m not ashamed. “Like my body, protect my body.”

“Like a bodyguard? When I think about the movie, I feel capable of beating your ass,” he grouses. “He’s my bodyguard.”

“I know and I appreciate that.” I kiss him on the lips before he finds something else to complain about. He still frowns at me as if I attacked him.

“Don’t try to distract me with juicy lips.” He pulls me close with the waist of my shorts. “Unless they’re the lower ones, big head.” He kisses my forehead. “Look. I want to show you something.”

He pulls up the footage from last week of me running past Nikolai. Nikolai puts his hands on his hips, and chuckles while he watches, then shrugs and jogs after me. JOGS. Damn, I’m much slower than him. Jagger is snickering until his eyes water. I’m happy to see him laughing just two short days after being released from the hospital. He wanted to come to the gym today and despite my protests about his head, here he is. I guess with Edis being off, there isn’t anyone here to punch him and possibly hurt him. Jagger speaks and pulls my attention back to the subject.

“Told you,” he teases. “Your ass is the only reason you made it.”
