“Why are you embarrassing me at work?”She asks in our language.

“Never think of another man sexually!”I warn her.

“What does this solve other than getting me fired!”

I let Laz fall back into his chair as his clothes reappear. New Loki may have overreacted but I’m not sorry. With a dramatic wave of my hand, she and I are back in her home. Shyla spins in surprise then sinks on her couch suddenly tired. She drops her face in her hands and shakes her head in disbelief.

I can never show my face there again.

“Yes, you can” I voice out loud.

Her eyes are watery when she snaps her head up at me. “How? Did you forget what you did?”

“No, you and I won’t forget, but they will. I reset their time. As far as they know, the meeting just started, and you called out sick this morning.”

Her mouth falls open in vexation. “That meeting was important! I was supposed to get information-”

I rub my thumb over her temple. Her eyes flicker as the information she needs downloads to her brain.

“Now, you’re up to speed. Watch how you talk to me, wife.”

Still displeased she stands up and stomps her foot. “You can’t alwaysmanipulate my life like this! Isn’t there some other god your answer to? Who’s your boss?”

I laugh at the absurdity of her question. “I’m my own boss. Just think if I had one, we would’ve had to consult with each other why you were falling to your death. I wouldn’t have to read your thoughts if you haven’t disappeared for so long. My phone number is in your brain. Use it. I promised to give you space but freezing me out is not an option. This was a warning. Next time, I won’t reset shit. I’ll let the spectacle I make linger!”

She huffs and angry breath, still not happy with my visit. “Is saving me what makes you think you have the right…”

I cut her offwith a kiss but pull away when she starts to moan. It’s not time to claim her body again. When I do, she’ll be out of this confused state.

“I don’t listen to your thoughts all day. I have other shit to do. You just picked the wrong time to think about another guy. Eat something with ginger for your nausea and call me once you make a doctor’s appointment.”

“An appointment for what?”

I smirk at her but disappear with the question still lingering between us.

Shyla

I haven’t known me long enough to know if I feel out of character but lately my moods change with the wind. But, if I think my feeling is justified, it can stick with me for a good while. In this case, my extreme annoyance lasted the twenty minutes it took to walk a few blocks, enter the building, board the elevator, and bang on the door.

Iam opens it like a normal person and leans with his elbow on the door jamb and his head resting on his palm. The smirk on his face tells me he knew I was coming. He’s as naked as the day we met, and I don’t know if he was an animal again or if this is all for me. I’d say he looks like he’s sculpted by the gods, but I already know how. I, however, punch him in the stomach before I’m trapped in his splendor.

Fuck that hurt!My hand screams while he remains unbothered. With a chuckle powerful enough to vibrate the floor, he shifts into me. I walk into his home while stuck in a stare down with a naked version of myself.

“What in the hell are you doing?”

My carbon copy grins at me and shrugs before responding. “You want to fight, I made it easier for you.”

“You started it,” I point out. It’s weird arguing with myself.

“But only I have the ability to end it.”

My hands ball into fists as we circle each other. “No. I can shut off my thoughts, disappear.”

“If you say so,” Iam mocks me.

“I’ll tell others about you.”
