“Cock-blocking. It’s a first-class offense in this house.”

Axel scoops me up like I’m tiny. My legs go around his waist and my hands behind his neck. Axel kisses me like it’s the only thing he wanted to do for months.

“How ‘bout we christen this office,” he rasps. “I see plenty of un-fucked surfaces.”

My phone blows up. It vibrates and chimes like crazy as a shit load of text messages and app notifications come through at the same time. I have no idea what’s going on, but it’s something big. I sigh because our kiss was going somewhere hot, but I must see what needs my attention. Especially when my phone starts ringing.

I release something somewhere between a sigh and a whimper as Axel puts me back on my feet. A man in his position knows all about phone explosions.

Axel settles into the chair and pulls me into his lap after I grab my phone. He rests his chin on my shoulder to check out the commotion.

“This better be good,” he mumbles, echoing my thoughts. “You have a lot of social media alerts.”

“I usually do since I’m a social media influencer.”

“An influencer?” he repeats.

“Yes. Someone who has a crazy following on social media. I get paid to post and even get sponsors to ask me to advertise some of their products.”

Axel eyes me suspiciously. “Do you be showing the world your ass?”

I laugh hard. “I’m not an internet model. I’m a lifestyle blogger. I also post educational videos on how to use social media for marketing. I’ve even been asked for relationship advice which is hilarious to me.”

“It shouldn’t be that funny; our relationship is flawless.” Axel winks at me.

Another alert diverts our attention back to my phone.

Latoya: Did you see this bullshit!?!

I click on the link attached.

It’s a video with Dre and Ashley. The headline reads ‘Stalked at Our Wedding’ I already feel my blood pressure rising without pressing play.

Axel curses them under his breath. I’m so over their bullshit. I opt for a different activity.

“You know what? Let’s call my parents first. I doubt that bullshit will change within the next fifteen to twenty minutes.”

He nods, although, I can feel the anger coursing through his body.

I pull up the video chat and dial my mom. She answers almost immediately.

“Hey, baby. What’s new, other than Dre being a hater?”

I roll my eyes, “Girrrrrl. I haven’t watched it, yet. I’m sure it’s some nonsense.”

My mom moves to the side as if she’s trying to look around. “Enough about that later. Who’s that behind you?”

I chuckle at her flirty voice. “That reminds me, where’s dad?”

“Hold on, chile.” My mom moves the phone away from her face. “Marcus!”

“What Tina?” I hear my dad yell.

“Come here! Heaven’s on the phone.”

My dad appears, looking equal parts grump and jovial. “Hey, baby girl. Are you baking out there in Texas?”

“I’m in California right now.”
