Her announcement to my parents and me is her way of leaving me with my parents to discuss their mime impressions. I kiss her temple and release her from my hold. I happily watch her walk away until she’s on the other side of my closed office door.
“Are you serious or is this a joke?” My dad seems to have found his voice.
“I’m serious. She’s my black girlfriend named ‘Heaven.’ She’s from Texas. I had her fly in because I missed her.”
My expressions ask them if they have a problem with what I’ve said.
“No need to get so defensive,” my mother deflects although something is clearly bothering them.
“Spit it out you two. What’s your problem?”
“Nothing!” their denial is far too fast. My look tells them I don’t believe them.
“Why do black people have to name their children such weird things?”
“Did you forget that Gwyneth Paltrow named her adorable daughter Apple?” I’m frustrated and too busy for this conversation to continue. “Look, I have work to do so I’ll speak to you when I’m less busy.” I ground out a terse ‘love you’ before disconnecting.
If their issue is just her name, I’ll let it go, if it’s anything else crazy we will need to have a sit down later.
Heaven reappears just as I finish my food.
“Did they unfreeze? Maybe you should have warned them I was black before video chatting.”
I study her thoughtfully. “Do you think that’s the problem?”
Heaven is staring out the window as she speaks. “I can’t one-hundred percent say it’snotthe problem.”
“My dad said you had a weird name.”
“I get that a lot. They probably think I’m some stripper who turned you out with a lap dance.”
My cock tingled at the image of Heaven stripping her sexy body for me. “How about we role-play that youarea stripper with a mean ass lap dance?”
“You’d like that, Daddy,” she mocks with a hip shake.
“Yes, please,” I growl since she likes it.
Heaven pecks my lips before pulling back. “It would depend if I can finish my work before you make it home.”
The technology!I snap my fingers. “That’s right. Hold that thought.”
I text Alfred to meet me in my office. I hear a knock on my door five minutes later. Heaven opens the door since she was reading a plaque next to it.
Alfred sticks his black and gray curl-covered head into the office. “You rang, boss.”
“I did, come in.” I stand to greet him with a handshake. “Do you have anything pressing today?”
“Nope. Nothing that can’t be handled or answered Monday.” His gray eyes study me inquisitively.
“Good. You are going on a special project with my girlfriend. I have a home office that would be functional if the technology was there. I need you to go with her, help her pick the best items for her needs, and set up the office. Use the card I gave you for technology expenses. I will approve the purchases if it’s something she needs for the office. Call me if you’re not sure about anything. You can go home when she’s satisfied with the office. Deal?
Alfred rubbed his hands excitedly. “Let me get this straight. I get to ride around in the town car, buy the latest gadgets, and set them up while enjoying the company of a beautiful woman? You’re the best boss ever.”
I chuckle at the statement. Alfred is one of those virile grandfathers who refuses to retire due to his love of technology. He’s been married forever, but I still have to warn him.
“My woman is my woman. She’s also willing to help, so don’t do too much and blow out your back, grandpa.”
Alfred snickers because we both know he’s in much better condition than most people half his age.
