“I’m aware, Jason. Those same parents are supposed to arrive any minute, and you’re sexing up the house!”

She’s on the move again, running around the house like a crazy person as she slips into a pair of skinny jeans, buttons her blouse, switches her ballet flats, cleans non-existent messes, and lights a shit load of candles.

“Calm down, woman. You’ve already met the psychos, and they like you.” I sidle up behind her in the kitchen and pull her close; having her near is my new obsession. “And,I already love you.”

Bree snorts. “Yeah, your dick is telling my ass cheek that very thing right now.”

“Just because I’m aroused again, doesn’t mean my dick is the only thing that loves you,” I argue as I spin her to face me. “My heart loves you more than my dick.”

Her smile makes me feel like a teenager. “You must have abigheart.”

“Enormous,” I confirm, before capturing her lips.

She relaxes enough to return the kiss. Bree makes the sound that means the kiss is getting good when she wraps her arms around my neck, but retreats to protest when my lips find her neck.

“Dammit, Jason. You’re doing it, again. Go sit in some ice or something.”

I laugh, and move away, when she begins toshoome.

“Fine, but I will collect tonight,” I warn on the way to the bedroom. “I’ll be out after a quick shower.”

I’ve never lived with anyone since I moved out of my parents house, but Bree and I fell seemingly into our new arrangement. I never thought I’d love waking up every morning with this same woman in my bed, yet I still can’t get enough months later. Plus, having a girlfriend with a super rich uncle allows us to enjoy the finer things without murdering my pockets.

My expansion wasn’t as financially jarring since it’s under Remy’s hotel group. Instead of footing the bill involved with starting over with a brick and mortar of my own, I took a two-year lease contract to have Hotspot as part of the new hotel. It would have been longer but Remy is giving me a shorter lease in case Bree moves. Regardless, my goal is to get it to run smooth without me.

Once I'm out of the shower, I stare out at the amazing view, Lincoln's condo provides. as I talk myself out of calling Gloria for what feels like the millionth time. If I want it to be successful without me, I have to trust her in her new role.

My phone vibrates on the wooden nightstand urging me to grab it.

"Hello?"

"I'm not gonna make it tonight, " Lars informs me in lieu of a greeting.

"But, my parents—"

"I know," he cuts in, music is muffled in the background. “Trust me. I wouldn’t miss it without a good reason.”

“Okay,” I acquiesce. “The Christmas in July thing is stupid anyway. Are you sure you don’t want to tell me what’s going on? You’ve disappeared a lot since we’ve been on the west coast.”

Lars sighs as if he has a million things running through his head. Silence stretches between us, until I begin to accept the notion that he’s not going to answer.

“I’ll explain when the time’s right.”

Then, he’s gone. Shrugging, I opt to get dressed and focus on the positive. I hope he’s not in any kind of trouble with his ‘Mayhem’ persona.

I find Bree in the living room only to discover she’s changed again. The blouse she wore earlier is replaced with a Christmas tank that has a woman twerking with the caption, ‘Ho what fun it is to THOT…’

I laugh at the ridiculous shirt and attack her with kisses, until the doorbell rings.

“How is the doorbell ringing?” Bree nearly yells as she looks at her phone. “The doorman didn't call first!” Her panic is hilarious since she’s expecting company anyway.

“I don’t know, but it’s now or never,” I announce, before swinging open the door to find half of Houston in the hallway. “How did...nevermind.”

I step aside to allow my parents, Chloe, my grandma, Remy, Carlee, Emiliano, Caris, and Lincoln entry. I’m not surprised to see Bree’s uncle. My mom seems to have adopted him, so he’s not lonely without Bree.

The rest of them, I don't care to question. I'm just happy my woman gets along with my friends. I sit back and watch my mom bear hug everyone and take over as the hostess. She can't help it, just like I can't help the warmth I feel when I see Bree with my mom. I pray they continue to get along as well as they do right now. It'll make getting married much easier.

Married? Where did that come from?
