“It’s like I need to make up for all those years in this one moment.”

“Do ye fear I willna want this again?”

“Mayhap a little. But I just need ma wife.”

“Ye have—Thor… I’m close… Dinna stop.”

“I canna unless ye tell me to.”

“Never.” Greer cupped his face as she spoke the truth. Making love to Thor once wouldn’t overcome the damage done, but she suspected a lifetime with him would. “Thor.”

“Me too,mo ghràidh.”

They clung to each other as their bodies shuddered and couldn’t calm. Their kisses remained as hungry as before they’d climaxed together. Greer’s core continued to flex around Thor’s shaft, refusing to let it go. He didn’t want to end her pleasure, so he continued to thrust and move her along his rod. One arm rested beneath her backside as his free hand moved to knead her breast.

“Ye feel so bluidy right, wee one. I want to bring ye another release. I’d do it as many times as ye can manage.”

“I want the same.”

It surprised Thor that he remained hard while he brought Greer to a second release. He hadn’t been this starving for release when they’d been five-and-ten or afterward. It’d taken him a year-and-a-half before he could bring himself to couple with another woman. He’d pictured Greer every time he’d been with someone else. He’d even said her name more than once, leading a couple women to claim he was married. But he’d meant none of his interludes to develop into relationships, so mutual satisfaction overcame the blunder.

When they were finally too fatigued to continue, they remained in the water, enjoying the erotic feel of it lapping around them. Greer hadn’t panicked, and she considered that an accomplishment. Once more, she wondered if she would have reached this point with another man. She didn’t think she would love another the way she did Thor, so she didn’t think she’d ever be as physically attracted to one. But she could admit when she saw a handsome one and knew they could make her curious. However, she could never picture coupling with them. Something made her shy away in every musing. She’d imagined Thor so many times. It was what sustained her. She was certain that influenced her eagerness now and the ease with which she accepted joining with him. They made love. He hadn’t rutted on her.

Will I ever get to where this isnae always on ma mind? I dinna want to live in those memories. I dinna want them to own any more of ma heart or mind. I want to fill those spaces with Thor and the life we’ll have together. But can I merely push them aside and demand they cease?

Greer, ye survived for eight years. It hasnae even been two moons since it ended. Ye arenae wrong for this to still consume ye.

But I dinna want it to. Nay more wondering if it’s Thor or whether I could do this with another mon. Nay more fearing I disgust him or waiting for him to reject me. All that’s doing is forcing him to prove himself over and over and making him repeat himself. That’s what he’s most likely to get fed up with. He doesnae need to prove aught to me. I’m the one who needs to accept that he loves me. That if he believes I’m worthy of his love, then I must be. Mayhap one day I will believe that on ma own, but for now, that’s enough.

“Greer?”

“Sorry. I was lost in thought.”

“I ken. Is everything all right?”

“Vera.” Greer pecked his lips. “I love ye.”

“I love ye more than aught. The only people I could love as much as ye are any bairns we have together. If that never happens, then ye will have ma entire heart to yerself.”

“Ye can keep a part for yer family.” Greer chuckled.

“Ye’re giving me an order?” Thor tickled her ribs.

“Aye.” She gasped as Thor pulled them beneath the surface, then pushed them out. Greer spluttered as she swiped her hair from her face. “What was that for?”

“Ye can order me to do aught ye want, and I’ll do ma best to comply. But dinna forget I dinna always follow directions well. They can have a sliver. The rest is yers.”

“Daft mon.”

“Ye drive me to distraction, lass.”

“If these are yer distractions, then I’ll happily drive ye to them all day and night.”

“Promise?”

“Aye, Husband. I promise.”

“Ye are the best wife ever.” Thor twisted and floated on his back before kicking his legs, moving them farther across the loch. He didn’t expect Greer to release her legs and force her body out of the water. Her hand landed on his head and shoved him down before she kicked to get away. Hands wrapped around her waist and yanked her back. She splashed water in Thor’s face before her body collided with his. She pushed sopping hair from his forehead.
