After the gym, we have dinner and hang out with the rest of the MC. I sit on Viper’s lap and listen to small talk. Contentedness and relaxation sink all the way to my bones.
We have an early night. I pull the sheets back and get into bed. Viper gets in beside me and moans, briefly closing his eyes, snuggling into the covers. “These sheets are like silk against my skin.”
“I told you they’re good. Actually, they’re better than good…” I sigh. “They’re amazing.”
He turns to face me. “You’ve changed my life. You make everything better.”
I go to speak, but his mouth captures mine in a slow, sensual kiss. Every day our bond grows stronger. When it’s just us, our relationship is easy… like breathing.
“I’ve fallen in love with you,” he murmurs against my lips.
My heartbeat spikes. “Shhh…” I reply, struggling to hold it together as I bury those feelings deep down.
“I want you… no, I need you to stay.” I help him pull off his shirt, and he kicks off his briefs as I grab the hem of my nighty and pull it over my head. His body is a work of art. Skin stretched over corded lean muscle.
We reach for each other, unable to stop ourselves. I caress his warm chest and the hard planes of his body as he cups my breast and masterfully uses the pad of his thumb to circle my nipple.
He gets up and lies on top of me. I sigh at the weight and heat of his body as he cages me in. His eyes sear into mine. The moment feels like a lifetime, as if he’s looking into my soul.
A myriad of emotions crosses his face before his lips take mine again, just as softly and tenderly as before. My legs circle his hips as he slowly pushes inside of me, making both of us moan.
“You were made for me,” he whispers as he moves inside of me again.
I try to kiss him harder as my fingernails dig into him, but he shakes his head at me. He knows what I’m doing: trying to fuck and not be intimate. I’m overwhelmed with fear of what the future may hold, but his lips meet mine again, and he makes love to me.

When I wake up,our legs are tangled in a mess of bedsheets. Last night has me reeling. I need to speak to my dad about Viper. I need him to let us make our own decisions about our future.
After breakfast, I put on jeans and a shirt. “I’m going to see my dad this morning,” I say to Viper.
He pauses. “Do you want me to come?”
“No, I think it will be best if I go by myself.”
“Well… Do you want a lift? I’ve got to go into town anyway. I said I’d help Zara install some furniture and other bits and pieces she needs done at the charity.”
I smile at him, proud that the MC is involved in something so selfless. “That would be great. Can we stop off at the store? I wanted to get a few more drinks. Everyone seems to enjoy the shots and cocktails I’ve been making.”
He kisses the top of my head, and when he inches back, he grins. “That’s because you make them taste so good.”
When we park outside the liquor store, a group of people are hanging around outside, out back of an old run-down house. “Why do people hang around there?” I ask. The people are standing around smoking. They’re rough-looking, with unkempt hair and clothes. I take a step closer to Viper.
“That house is a drug den. We don’t have many users in town, but that place is where they hang out.”
I frown. “That’s sad. I didn’t know there were any drug houses in Crown Village.”
“Every town’s got at least one. It’s easy for them being in the house right next to the liquor store. That’s actually where we got the dog, Conan, from. He was tied outside with no water or food, so Ava saved him.”
Viper’s phone rings. He gets it from his pocket and answers it. His face goes from happy to stern. “Okay, I’m leaving now,” he says before putting his phone away.
“Look, I’ve got to go. There’s a family that needs to be rescued urgently, and since I’m already in town, I can get there the quickest.”
My stomach drops. I lean in and give him a peck on the lips. “Be safe.”
“I will. Will you be okay getting a lift to your dad’s?”
“I’ll get the chauffeur to pick me up, so don’t worry about me. You go.”
