I inch back. “Wow… I wasn’t expecting that.” Interesting though. “But why travel when there are women here?”
“He has particularneeds…”
I’m torn between wanting to know and not wanting to know. “Well… he’s committed, I’ll give him that.”
Axle walks into the kitchen and spots us. “Since when do we have ice cream?” he asks while walking to the freezer. He opens it wide and moves things around.
“It’smyice cream,” I reply.
“Yeah… I wouldn’t touch her ice cream, man. She’s already threatened me with death if I have any.”
Axle closes the freezer and laughs, but when he looks at my face, his smile falls. “Oh… you’re serious.”
“You bet I am!”
“What were you two whispering about, anyway?” Axle asks us.
“I’m just finding out the MC goss.”
“Oh well…” Axle wiggles his eyebrows. “Do fill me in.”
I giggle. “Nothing you don’t already know… like who likes who… who’s sleeping with who…”
Axle’s gaze whips to Twitch, and he grins evilly. Twitch’s eyes tighten and he shakes his head at Axle.
My eyes bounce between them. “Whatever silent discussion is going on, I want to know about it.”
Axle peers at me, that grin still firmly on his face. “Twitch has got a hard-on for Milly, Reaper’s sister.”
“I do not!” Twitch pipes up.
I lean toward them. “Do tell! Now I’m thoroughly invested.”
Axle opens his mouth but chances a peek at Twitch and slams it shut. “Sorry… I can’t.”
I let out an exaggerated groan and then look at Twitch with pleading eyes.
“There’s nothing to tell,” Twitch says, and then walks away.
“You’re no fun!” I yell out to him.
I put the lid on the ice cream and put it back in the freezer. I walk over to Axle. “Come on… tell me about Twitch and Milly.”
He raises his hands defensively. “I can’t. Twitch has already got his panties in a twist from me starting the conversation.”
I pout. “You’re no fun either.”
“Ha! Said no one ever!”
I laugh. “Well… I’ve got some work to do. I’ll be on my laptop in Viper’s room.”
After I shower and answer emails, I’m on the phone with Maddy, the manager of my nightclub. I breathe a sigh of relief when she confirms the nightclub is running well. No problems at all. “Thanks so much,” I tell her. “Remember I’m only a phone call away.”
“Everything is perfectly fine. You have nothing to worry about. If there’re any problems, I’ll manage them. You enjoy your time away.”
I make a note to increase her salary. Some employees are worth their weight in gold.
I’m closing my laptop as Viper walks into his room. Perspiration covers his face. His deep breaths make his chest rise and fall. He must have run hard to be breathing like that.
