“It is a colossal fuckup! And no prenup… no contract… no nothing,” he rages.

I swallow over the lump in my throat. “Well… don’t worry about me. Viper’s not interested in my money.”

“How can I not worry about you when you make hasty decisions like that?” he says. His voice is losing its edge. “You can’t tell me he wasn’t aware of how wealthy you are. He’s not husband material—he’s a dangerous, money-hungry outlaw.”

An uncomfortable feeling surges through me. Did Viper marry me because of money? I hate how Dad plants these negative seeds inside my head.

“Am I going to be meeting thishusbandof yours?”

“In a month,” I answer, as the corner of my mouth twitches. All of it will be over with and we won’t have anything to discuss apart from his disappointment in me.

“Today.” His tone is non-negotiable.

I have the urge to disagree, but I hate arguing with him and don’t want him showing up at the clubhouse causing trouble either. I should just get it over and done with… twenty minutes… in and out.

“Okay… we will see you today.”

If Viper is desperate for me to stay married to him, I’ll see if he feels the same after he meets my father. In turn, I might find out what my dad’s connection is with the MC.

THE FATHER-IN-LAW FROM HELL

After shooting practice,I walk inside to see temptress and the women sitting in the kitchen. I have to keep reminding myself that she needs to be savored. I need to use everything in my arsenal to convince her to stay. Even if that means holding out on sex. I just hope it pays off because I’m struggling already, but I must think of the long game. If she stays, I’ll get to keep waking up to that beautiful face, rocking body, and shitload of sass.

“Are you free today?” Sophie asks.

My head tilts, and the side of my lip curves. “For you wifey, I’m free all the time.”

Her fingers tap on the countertop. “Would you be ready to leave soon?”

I search her eyes; she’s acting strange. “What are we doing? A motorcycle ride to the gym?” I struggle to contain my excitement.

“We have to visit my dad. He wants to meet you.”

My buzz is obliterated… “I can’t say I’ve ever met a woman’s dad.” I’ve never hung around long enough, but I’m charming… I’m sure I can navigate the meeting while proving I’m going to treat Sophie well and being careful not to cause any waves between our MC and her dad, Garrett.

The MC and her dad have a deal. We grow and sell large amounts of pot; her family allows us to do that with no interruptions from the police and safe travel through Crown Village and the surrounding towns. If her family was to turn against us, it could have very bad consequences for the MC.

“Oh, I can’t wait,” I say, sarcasm dripping from my words.

The women chuckle, while Sophie raises a perfectly manicured eyebrow and purses her lips. “Hmm… I bet.” She glances down at the gym clothes she’s wearing. “Well, I’ll go get some clothes to wear to Dad’s and we can get ready after the gym.”

“Are we going out somewhere for dinner or something?” I don’t understand why she has to get changed.

She shakes her head. Oh… it’s for her father. Of course! “Ah, I hope you aren’t expecting me to dress up.”

She smiles. “I’m not.”

I try to suppress my relief.

“Do you want me to grab you some gym clothes and a pair of shoes?” she asks.

“Yeah, thanks.” Since I’m wearing my usual MC clothes.

After Sophie goes upstairs, I go in search of Bomber and find him in the hallway. “Tell me everything about your uncle Garrett.”
