“I can’t believe you’re cockblocking me!”
He laughs again.
“Then why bother getting undressed?” I demand.
“I only just remembered. Now you know what you’re missing out on,” he purrs. I pick a pillow up and throw it at him. He won’t last long without sex with me… I’ll make sure of it.

NEVER GOOD ENOUGH
Sophie
I madeViper sleep on the couch in his own clubhouse.Screw him!The balls he’s got to even think he could affect me… even though he does. It’s outrageous! No one has ever denied me dick before… like, he’s hurting both of us. It’s been one whole day, and I’ve been slumming it, binging Netflix with Ava, Elena, and Zara while the men are off doing whatever the fuck they do.
“Do you need any help with the charity?” I ask Zara. I’m bored and overthinking being denied sex. I might as well make myself useful.
“No, not really, but thanks for offering,” she replies.
“If you’re looking for something to do, you can help me cook for them,” Ava offers, and that makes me laugh. She frowns.
“I can’t cook,” I clarify.
“Everyone can cook!” Ava says.
I shake my head. “Unless you want everyone throwing up afterward… then trust me… I can’t cook.”
“It’s okay. I can’t cook either,” Elena chimes in.
“If anyone needs cocktails… that’s something I can do.”
I look to Zara. “Have you got enough people invested in the charity? Do you need money for anything?” Money is what I can offer.
Zara smiles. “Your family has already given us so much with giving us the hall for the charity to operate out of.”
It’s the least we could do. “We already owned it. It didn’t cost us anything to give it to you, so tell me what you are lacking at the center… Do you want to extend it? I can contribute because Lawson and I were already talking about putting in money, and if we do, you know Alec and Harrison will. I don’t want you to have to worry about anything. You tell us what you need, and it’s done.”
Zara’s glassy eyes make me frown, and I lean over to hug her. “I love you, let us help you. It would be our honor to offer money for your charity to help the women and children. Honestly, I wish we had thought about it sooner.”
She hastily brushes her eyes as more tears well up.
My phone rings. “Dad” pops up on my screen.
“Are you going to answer that?” Zara asks.
I roll my shoulders back, trying to ease my tension. “Oh… hell no.”
She giggles. “Why?”
“Dad’s calling for a specific reason, and I’m sure that reason has something to do with me randomly marrying a biker. I’m in my twenties… I don’t need the lecture, and trust me, there will be a lecture. The main problem is that Viper’s a biker, so Dad’s going to be seeing red. I’ll get the ‘he’s not good enough and only wants my money’ speech. Business has always been Dad’s strong suit… not family.”
A deep frown curves on Ava’s face. “That’s really sad. Me and Elena aren’t close with our parents either, but since I’ve been here, family to me is everyone in the MC. Blood isn’t everything.”
Blood isn’t everything… that echoes deep in my soul. “I have my brothers… Well, we were closer when growing up because we only had each other. Dad worked long hours, and Mom left us when I was young. I barely even remember her. After school, I moved to New York. My best friend, Piper, is the closest thing I’ve had to family.”
I don’t have many close people in my life, but I’ve always valued quality people over quantity. The abandonment issues I have from Mom and my fear of being rejected and undervalued by my father are why I’ve never wanted to get too close to a man. I have enough issues.
Now it’s Zara wrapping her arms around me, giving me a hug. I’ve missed having someone who knows my past and understands it. Piper is there for me, but she wasn’t there with me growing up. Zara was, during the holidays when I returned home. She gets it.
