Trixie smiles. “Good morning. How was your run?”
I wait a moment, giving Candy time to reply to me, but she looks away, grabs plates, and walks out the back door.Unbelievable. I turn my attention back to Trixie. “The scenery was much better this morning,” I say as I peer at Sophie, who takes a seat at the counter.
Trixie grins, giving Sophie the once-over. “I bet it was…” Then she lowers her voice. “She’s hot.”
“Hi, Sophie,” Trixie says, and Sophie replies, “Hey, Trixie.”
I make my way to the cupboard and pull out the blender, set it on the counter, and then slide out a cutting board. “I’m putting vanilla protein powder in my smoothie.”
She nods. “I’ll have that too.”
I shift my gaze to the fruit bowl. “And bananas.”
“Sounds good,” Sophie replies.
As I’m cutting the banana and putting the pieces in the blender, I think how good it is that we both enjoy exercise and eating clean.
After I blitz the smoothie, I pour the creamy liquid into a glass and set it in front of her. She takes a sip. “Do you have a gym here?”
“Not here, though it’s on our to-do list. There’s one in Crown Village that me and some of the men go to a couple of days a week.”
“Are you talking about the smaller one that’s in the Crown Resort?”
I shake my head. “There’s a newer one now. Do you know the Monroe and De Santis families?”
“Yes.”
“Well, it’s their youngest children, Mia and Ashton, who own it, though they’re not children anymore.”
Sophie looks thoughtful. “I want to go with you next time.”
I won’t say no if I get to see her in an outfit like that again. “Sure,” I say, dragging out the word.
“Can we go on the motorcycle?” Sophie asks.
“Hell yeah,” I reply. I can’t wait.
Axle walks in through the back door, and when his eyes land on me, he beams. “My man… we’re having a party for you two tonight.” His gaze darts between me and Sophie.
“Oh yeah,” I reply. “For what?”
“Your wedding—we haven’t celebrated it yet.”
Sophie coughs, like she just choked on her drink.
“Great. I can go to the store today; I wouldn’t mind getting some more food.”
Axle rolls his eyes at me. “Ava was going to do a baked dinner because she thought you two would like something healthy.”
“That’s thoughtful of her,” Sophie replies.
“Get Ava to get a list together. We can go today,” I tell Axle.

After our showers,we get in the truck and drive to the stores. We don’t even get to the front door of the grocery store before a woman stops me in my stride. “Viper,” she says, seductively. I’ve slept with her, but I can’t remember her name. Her hand comes out to touch my cut until Sophie clears her throat from beside us and links our hands together, giving me a feisty smile. I wasn’t expecting that, but Sophie’s jealousy is a real turn-on.
The woman drops her hand, giving Sophie the once-over, and takes a step back. “So, it’s true?” the woman says to me. “You’re married?”
