My eyes can’t leave the screen. It’s the person in my nightmares. I can’t speak, so I nod. Beau stands by his car, which is parked off to the side from the gated entrance.

“I want to talk to Ava, my wife,” Beau says through the speaker by the gate.

His voice immobilizes me. He sounds concerned, but there’s an undertone of anger in it. I know how fake he is in front of people.

Twitch looks at me. “Did you want me to tell him you’re not here?”

I blink a few times. “Yes.” My heart beats out of control.

Twitch sits in the chair in front of the computer and microphone. “I don’t know who you’re talking about.” Amusement weaves into his voice.

Beau doesn’t flinch but keeps his anger under control. “I was told she’s here.”

I’m quick to respond to Twitch. “No one knows I’m here.” Elena would never have told him. Axle wants to punch him, and the other men didn’t want to get involved.

Bomber. He didn’t want me to bring my drama here. Maybe he thought Beau could take me away so they don’t have to deal with it. I swallow down the vomit threatening to come up.

“Sorry, mate. They made you drive out here for no reason. She isn’t here.”

“I want to speak to Elena, then.”

“Yeah, that’s not happening. She’s still sleeping.”

My mind races with uncertainty. Maybe I should leave this place? What if Bomber contacts Beau again? It’s the clubhouse of the MC men. Elena isn’t one of them. I doubt her feelings hold much weight.

“Axle, Elena’s husband, and the rest of the MC will be home at any moment, so I think it would be better if you left.” A bite of warning punctuates Twitch’s voice.

Beau doesn’t reply. He walks to his car and starts it. I watch as he leaves. I can only imagine how hard it was for him to rein in his anger. I know that won’t be the last I’ll see of him.

Twitch swings his swivel chair around to look at me. “Who knows you’re here?”

“Bomber must have told him.”

Twitch laughs, making my brows furrow. “Bomber is loyal to Reaper and to the club. There’s no way. Have you spoken to any family or friends?”

I shake my head. “Elena spoke to our parents, but she said she never told them or anyone else, so I don’t know who it was.” A heavy breath falls from my mouth. “Can you let me know if Beau comes back?”

Twitch nods. “But I don’t think you will have anything to worry about. That guy won’t have the balls to return.”

I hope he’s right. After walking out of the room, I wondered what my next move should be. I need a distraction, so I move to the kitchen and pull out the ingredients from the pantry and the fridge to make two large batches of baked omelets for the men.

My hand shakes as I grab a large dish. “Hey,” someone says from behind me and I jerk, dropping it. The dish lands on the floorboards, followed by a ringing clang.

Elena curses under her breath while I apologize. “I’m so sorry.”

She moves toward me, but I unconsciously step back. My arms wrap around myself. I’m on edge, and Elena frowns and slowly picks up the dish. “You have nothing to apologize for. It was an accident.”

“Beau found me.” The three words I was hoping I would never have to say make my eyes water.

She gasps and steps toward me, like she wants to comfort me, but stops. “Are you okay? Did you have to talk to him?”

“The gates are locked. He spoke to Twitch via the intercom, but Twitch told him I wasn’t here and told him to leave.”

“Okay, but how would he know?” she asks and puts her hand over her heart. “I promise you. I never said a word to anyone.”

“I believe you. It must’ve been someone who lives here. No one else knows.”

A phone rings. Elena pulls her phone out of her pocket and her shoulders slump. “It’s Mom. No doubt Beau called her. I’ll tell her it’s a lie.”
