“Are you going to tell me why you locked yourself in the room all day?” His voice is tinged with curiosity.
“I don’t want Beau to find me.” My eyes widen at my honesty.
“What makes you think he will?”
I shrug. “Bad habit of always assuming the worst.” Yes, I was paranoid, but if experience taught me anything, it was that Beau always got his way.
“Do you know how to shoot a gun?”
“No.”
“I’ll teach you tomorrow after breakfast.”
“There’s no need, really. But thanks.”
He raises a brow. “A woman needs to know how to protect herself.”
I don’t answer because there’s truth to what he’s saying.
“I can tell you that you’re safe living under the roof of my MC, but it’s important to learn how to protect yourself in case you ever need to. At some stage your husband will come looking for you, so you should be prepared for anything.”
“Why are you letting me stay here then?”
His eyes soften. “If he hit you before, he will rain down hell on you if you return.”
The truth makes me flinch.
“Now, get some sleep. I want a bacon and egg burger for breakfast.”

My alarm rings,so I grab my phone and turn it off. Today, I woke up with a purpose. Even though it’s to cook, it’s something I love to do, and at least I can save more money.
After getting changed into jeans and a fitted T-shirt, I grab my wallet, and move down to the kitchen. I gasp when I arrive and see dirty pans in the sink, the overflowing bin, and cups and beer bottles sitting on the kitchen counter. From last time, I should’ve known that they wouldn’t have cleaned up.
When I search the fridges, only a little bacon is left, and ten eggs. In the pantry, I can’t find any bread. Dread slithers through me.
“Okay, think,” I mumble to myself.
“What about?”
I let out a small scream. “I didn’t see you come in.”
Rage gives me a half smile and wipes his forehead with his forearm. “Yeah, sorry, I should be more careful around you because...” His eyes dart away as he stands awkwardly. “Everything you have been through and all.”
Viper comes up behind him, breathing heavily. “Youarefast.”
They are both shirtless, so I gather they have been out exercising. It’s impossible not to notice their very fit, very muscled bodies.
When Viper sees me, he flashes one of his cocky smiles. “Hey, darl.”
My lips tighten. I don’t know how to act around Viper because Elena said to stay away from him.
Rage chuckles and looks to Viper. “I’ve never seen a woman look at you like that.”
Viper playfully whacks his shoulder. “I don’t like it.” Viper’s eyes soften when he glances at me with his hands up in defense. “I don’t want to scare you. If you’re worried I’ll come on to you, then I give you my word that I won’t.”
I give him an appreciative smile. “Good. Thank you. Now, I don’t want to wake Elena and Axle, so could you take me to do some shopping for breakfast?”
