????????????

Jalen sank deeper into the hot water. The Epsom bubble bath joined it in helping relieve her sore muscles. She’d been sitting in it for about ten minutes now, and she was grateful to Rohan for running it for her.

They’d had a long night, as well as a long morning, and when he’d woken her up fifteen minutes ago at a quarter after two, she was shocked at how late it was. Her legs had felt like weights, and she was relieved when he’d picked her up, carried her into the bathroom, and sat her gently into the bathtub.

She hadn’t realized, aside from her legs, how sore her entire body was until he’d placed her into the bathtub. Closing her eyes, she hummed to herself as she relaxed. Rohan suggested she stay in as long as she wanted while he fixed lunch.

As she swayed her arms back and forth in the water, she made a mental note to call Kodi to check in and make sure her sisters were behaving. She didn’t want them giving Vivian issues when the older woman had been nice enough to have them over.

Jalen refrained from checking in the night before. However, that was because she’d ended up getting occupied for several long hours.

She wasn’t sure how long she’d been relaxing, but after a while, she washed herself. She didn’t want to keep him waiting if lunch was finished, and if it wasn’t, she would help him with it.

Once she’d bathed, she pulled the plug on the drain and stepped out. Grabbing the towel he’d placed beside the sink for her before he’d walked out.

Jalen dried off and wrapped the towel around herself before going into the bedroom. Going through her bag, she pulled out a pair of panties, her moisturizer, a tank top, and a pair of shorts she’d planned on sleeping in the night before.

When she was moisturized and dressed, Jalen took out her brush and comb, along with a hair tie, and returned to the bathroom. She pulled her hair up into a bun, brushed her teeth, and then went down the hall to the kitchen. The aroma that filled the room made her mouth water and her stomach growl.

Rohan was standing at the counter with his back to her. Jalen walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around him.

“Thank you for running me a bath. It was definitely needed and relaxing.” She told him, placing her head on his back.

“You don’t have to thank me. Was I too rough?” he asked, and she shook her head against his back. She’d given him the same answer before drifting off last night.

“No, I enjoyed every minute of last night.”

She released him and went to the refrigerator to take out the lemonade. She grabbed two glasses and poured one for each of them before she placed it back into the refrigerator.

Jalen went to the island and placed each drink in front of a bar stool, sliding into one. Rohan joined her a minute later. Sitting a bowl of chicken pasta in front of her. She thanked him, blessed her food, and the two of them dug in.

“So, what’s the plan for today?” she questioned after taking a few bites.

“We can do whatever you want to do, baby,” he responded.

Jalen thought about it for a moment. She seldom had time to just sit and do nothing. She was usually taking care of her sisters, working, doing homework, or studying. She thought it would be nice to spend the day in, vegging on the couch.

“Can we stay in, maybe make brownies or cookies, and just watch movies?”

“We sure can, babe. I think I have everything we need to make both. We can even make homemade hot chocolate.”

“That sounds good,” Jalen responded.

“I want you to open your gifts when we finish eating,” he told her.

Jalen nodded. “I have yours too.”

The two of them finished eating and cleaned the kitchen together before she went to his bedroom. She pulled her clothes out of it before grabbing the presents she’d packed under them. She returned to the living room and found Rohan sitting on the couch with two gift boxes and a bag sitting on top of the coffee table. Jalen set the ones she was holding beside them.

He picked up the box and handed it to her. Jalen placed it on her lap and pulled the bow on top of it. She removed the lid and smiled as she pulled out the stethoscope that sat on top of the tissue paper. It was mint green and had her name on the bell and chest piece.

“This is amazing, and it has my name on it.”

“I remember you telling me you were using your backup since your other one went missing. Did the nurse who took it ever fess up to it?”

Jalen sucked her teeth. “No, and we all knew she took it.”

“Well, she can’t take this one.”
