“Grunting? Seriously, Obi? You’re so moody.”
“I’m tired,” I grumbled as I pulled up my texts.
Behind on laundry, huh?
Annie Markham
I’ve been on the road all week, Ober. Is that a problem?
My jersey too dirty for you to wear today?
Dunno. Couldn’t find it before the game
“Up too late doing something last night?” Jessie pushed on with a little smirk.
I put my phone face down and shoved a chicken wing in my face. “No. Who would I be doing anything with?”
She gave an innocent little pout of her lips. “I don’t know, maybe that girl you’re involved with?”
I narrowed my eyes at her. “Stay out of my business, Mommy.”
“Oh, so there is business?” She propped her chin on her fist and batted her eyelashes. “Do tell the business. Does the business ever come to your games?”
Kitty joined the conversation, throwing her arm around Jessie’s neck. “What’s this I hear about business?”
I sucked the rest of the meat off the chicken bone and threw it in the pile of discarded wings. “You’re not my real mom,” I spat at Jessie.
She and Kitty giggled as I stood, slammed my glass of water, and threw money on the table.
“Where are you going?” Kitty asked, also entertained by my grouchiness.
“I’ve gotbusinessto attend to.”
I stormed out of the bar without a backward glance, texting Annie again.
Greg and I are coming over
You and Greg? To what do I owe this honor?
You’d better do that no panties routine again,
and this time, you wear my jersey
Should I plan for an extended stay?
Plan for my head to be parked between your legs
until the fucking sun comes up
Sounds tiring
You won’t be complaining

The nerves caught up to me by the time I made it to Annie’s place. Leaving the bar, I was fueled by testosterone-filled rage. Going through the monotony of packing an overnight bag, taking Greg for a walk, and driving over to her place took it out of me.
I was going to move on to the next level in our lessons: oral. For the first time since I screwed it up over the summer. Yes, I’d successfully used my hands on her multiple times by then, but the mouth stuff was the thing that got me into trouble.
