I woke up before Kitty, but not by much. It gave me the chance to watch her in the morning sunlight that peeked around the hotel room’s curtains. I still couldn’t believe that she’d said yes. We were spending time together, however fleeting that would be.
I didn’t have a formed plan as to my end game. I figured I couldn’t get her to fully commit to me again before we left New York. She’d already pointed out that I’d be in Seattle and she’d be in L.A., leaving us in the same predicament we’d always been in. Although, at least we’d be in the same time zone. That would be new. Maybe a point in the “Being With Guy” column.
But maybe I could convince her to at least talk to me more often. Hopefully every day. Then I could work on figuring out how to move close to her. I wouldn’t tell her until I was sure it could happen. I didn’t want to get her hopes up. My agent, Marcie, had already put some work into seeing if I could trade to New York or New Jersey. Now that I knew Kitty was moving to L.A. permanently, I’d have to change her direction from the three New York area teams to the two Southern California teams.
Marcie was probably going to kill me.
“Morning, Guy-Guy.” Kitty rolled her body against mine, letting me spoon her. Her naked body. She’d changed some, as everyone does. She was less willowy and gangly than she’d been a few years before, more like a grown woman. I liked it. My beautiful woman who’d always been my girl. I inhaled at her neck to her giggle. “This feels nice.”
“It does,” I said. “We could try to have this more often, you know.”
“Ugh, Guy, stop campaigning,” she sighed. “No complicated stuff.”
“You’re right, you’re right.”
“I’ll try again. It’s nice waking up next to you, Guy,” Kitty said, nestling her body closer to mine.
“It is, Birdy.”
She reached back and drifted her hand over my cock, which was already hard. “Morning wood, or are you ready to party?”
“A little bit of both. Does that mean you’re interested?”
“I think I could be convinced,” she cooed. My hand went from her waist up to her breast, where I traced her nipple with my fingertip. Kitty hummed as the peak pebbled under my touch.
“Does that help convince you?”
“Sure doesn’t hurt,” she said. “But I do have to pee.”
I laughed. “Yeah, me too. Meet back here in a few?”
She clapped my butt as she got out of bed. “Meet back here.”
After we’d both freshened up, Kitty waited for me in bed. She held her phone, a surprised look on her face.
“What is it?”
“Um, we kinda went viral,” she said.
Hell yeah.“We did?”
“Yeah, come look.” I sat behind her on the bed and pulled her body back into mine, my legs framing her as she leaned into my chest.
“Holy shit.” Kitty paged through links from her agent. One place had written an article to go with a cell phone video of our performance from the standup place. Another Instagram accounthad pictures of us from inside and outside the sushi restaurant, our steamy kiss fully documented. There were pictures of me reacting to Kitty talking to me, one where I looked absolutely madly in love. “Find you a man who looks at you like Guy Stelle looks at Kitty Gatto,” the caption said. Guess there had been photographers, or these days, anyone with a cell phone.
While I was secretly thrilled that I essentially laid claim to Kitty publicly, I figured it might be a little more violating for her.
“Are you okay, Kitty?”
She hesitated. “I mean, not the first time my love life will have been put on display.”
“But?”
“You and I have been posted on the internet before, but that was before anyone knew me. Then I was just your little girlfriend. Are you okay? You’re used to being with nameless people.”
I shrugged. “I’m fine. It’s with you, and I love you. But I know it makes our relationship seem more serious.”
Kitty’s face darkened and she turned over her shoulder. “Did you plan this on purpose?”
