“Daddy’s going to come get y’all on Saturday and take you back to Alden safely. The last thing we need is the two of you driving.”

“That’s about the last thing I want to do, anyway,” I confirmed. “It’ll be a while before I want to drive again. Not too thrilled with snow at the moment, either.”

Mom tsked. “Where’s Guy right now? Can I talk to him?”

“He went down to get us breakfast. He’s letting me rest.”

“Love his heart. That boy is just the sweetest thing,” she said, her voice finally calming.

“He’s been taking good care of me,” I said, remembering howhe carried me through the snow after the accident. And ate me out with a skill I’d never encountered before.

“Well, have a happy Thanksgiving. Daddy’ll Venmo you so you can have enough money for food and hotel while y’all are stuck there. I saw the Bob Evans nearby is open so y’all can get a proper meal. We’ll be missin’ you today.”

I got a little emotional. Even though I had Guy to dote on me, I hadn’t seen my parents since they dropped me off on move-in weekend. I missed home. Annie was home for Thanksgiving break and I wanted to be there with her, too. And after the accident, all I wanted was a hug from my mom and dad.

“Miss you, too, Mama,” I said, trying to keep my tears out of my voice but failing miserably.

“Oh, sweetie. It’s alright. I know yesterday must have been scary.”

“I was afraid we’d both die, Mama,” I said, hiccuping as I cried. I smoothed the hotel duvet, tucking myself more into the sheets. “It was so scary.”

“I bet it was,” she said. “I’m glad you have Guy with you. Why don’t you two both video call us later?”

I agreed, we said our “I love you’s,” and hung up.

Guy came back in as I was wiping my tears, carrying two to-go cups of coffee in the crook of his arm and two over-stuffed plates of different breakfast foods. His face instantly went concerned.

“What’s wrong, mapuce?” He kicked off his shoes, put the plates and cups on the desk, and sat on the bed next to me.

“I just got off the phone with Mom. I was just telling her how scary yesterday was,” I said, starting to cry again.

Guy’s arms surrounded me as he pulled me to the soft fabric of his hoodie. It smelled of laundry detergent, and him. “It was really scary. I’m glad we’re safe now.”

“I’m glad you came with me, Guy-Guy. Even though I almost killed you.”

“Me, too, sweetheart. I’d never want you to go through thatalone. And I’m fine. For better or worse, it brought us together,” he said. “Let’s get some food in you, no? They had that flavored creamer you like. The Irish cream or whatever.”

He brought the food over to our bed and let me have the first pick of what I wanted.

“I eat anything. I’m a garbage disposal,” he joked.

We flipped on the TV and watched the Thanksgiving Day Parade while we ate. It was nice. Comfortable. Even though I was naked under the covers and he was in sweats, it made sense for the moment. I caught Guy looking over at me.

“What?”

“Just looking at how beautiful you are,” he said with a smile. “I’m happy we’re trying this out.”

“Does that mean you’re ready to be exclusive?” I was nervous to ask but knew we should clear everything up in the temporary just-us bubble we were living in.

“Absolutely,” he said, sliding a hand under the covers. “I’m not sharing that delicious pussy with anybody else. In fact, I think I need another taste.”

I put our plates and cups on the nightstand and turned off the TV. “Oh, you do?”

Guy peeled off his sweatshirt and got up to drop his pants. He grabbed a condom from his backpack, giving me a chance to admire his thick hockey butt and thighs. He threw it on the nightstand with a flourish. “Yes. I do.”

“Come here, potential love of my life,” I teased as he crawled over to me.

Guy’s naked body hovered over me under the warmth of the covers. I ran my hands over his chest and abs as he leaned down to kiss me, the defined muscle rippling under my fingers. Guy hit me with a burning hot kiss, sucking on my lower lip.
