“We can start slow.” She pushes up on her knees and crawls to the edge of the bed, looking up at me from under her lashes. “We could start with dating exclusively.” She pokes me in the chest. “Which, in case you’re not familiar with the term, means you won’t be hooking up with anyone else.”
“Done.” Why would I want to hook up with anyone else when I’ve got Quinn? “But you have to stand in front of me when we tell Noah.”
Quinn snort-laughs. “You can’t seriously expect me to believe you’re afraid of Noah. You’re like six inches taller than he is. What’s he going to do? Ban you from the house?”
“How about we don’t find out?” I snake an arm around her waist and pull her in for a kiss. It’s chaste as hell, but I have no interest in showing up at the gym with a boner.
The guys would never let me hear the end of it.
When she pulls away, there’s a mischievous glint in her eyes. “How about we do?”
She dives for the phone on the nightstand, giving me a prime view of her bare ass, and taps out a quick message. I don’t get a look at the screen until after she’s pressed send.
Quinn: I’m sleeping with Cooper. Deal with it. *happy devil emoji*
Fuuuck. “That’s definitely not how I would have delivered the news. Surely there was a more tactful way to communicate our status.”
I can’t quite bring myself to say the word relationship yet.
She smirks. “Yeah, but what would be the fun of that?”
I pinch the bridge of my nose. It’s too early for this sibling shit.
On the bright side, Noah’s probably still asleep. Maybe he won’t see it and—
Her phone vibrates with an incoming message.
Noah: I swear to God if you’re messing with me…
Noah: Are you with DeLaurentis right now? He better have fucking pants on.
Noah: This isn’t funny, Quinn!
She tosses the phone on the bed without replying.
“Aren’t you going to answer him?”
“Nope.” She flashes me a smug grin. “I’m going to let him sweat it out. Seems like it’ll be a lot more fun that way.”
“Fun for who?” I grumble, rubbing the back of my neck as I imagine all the ways Noah’s going to make my life miserable within the frat.
“Me, obviously.” She scoots to the edge of the bed again and gives me a quick peck on the lips. “Now get moving. I will not be the reason you’re distracted.”
It’s a little too late for that.
When I roll into the team weight room fashionably late, my roommates descend like vultures, cornering me before I even have a chance to warm up.
“Where were you this morning?” Reid asks, wiping the back of his hand across his forehead. He was probably one of the first to arrive. He always is. “Your bed was empty when I looked in.”
A raucous cheer breaks out down the aisle, buying me some time, as a bunch of guys cheer on a defensive tackle who’s doing squats with an obscene amount of weight on the bar.
“I stayed at Quinn’s place.” No point lying. They’ve probably already guessed the truth.
“We figured y’all stayed out late celebrating the senator’s big win,” Vaughn says. “But another sleepover? Sounds serious.”
The mention of my father sours my mood instantly.
“Dude.” Parker smirks and slings an arm around my shoulders. “I don’t know what’s going on with you lately, but you’re freaking me out. It’s like invasion of the body snatchers or some shit.” He grabs my chin with his free hand and turns my head to face him. “Have you been body snatched? Blink once for yes and two for no.”
