All three of them look down at me blankly so I say it again.

“Untie me! I’ll go answer the door and get rid of them!”

Suspicion immediately fills their eyes so I roll mine at them.

“Oh, go fuck a cactus. I was almost there! We are so not done until I get off at least twice so un-fucking-tie me so I can get rid of them.”

When they still make no move to free me, I spit through clenched teeth,

“For fuck’s sake! Don’t be stupid. They will come in if we don’t answer. Do you want to explain the bound woman on the chair? If it makes you feel better, one of you can stand behind the door with a gun pointed at me to make sure I don’t tip them off.” Two more forceful bangs hit the door. “Let’s fucking go!”

They share a look that’s loaded with silent communication and then they all start moving. Black whips the knife out of the sheath at his belt and cuts my arms free as Green drops down and works at untying my legs. As soon as he has me free, he moves my panties back into place, smooths down the skirt of my dress, and then helps me to my feet.

I wobble for a second as the blood flow starts moving in my legs again but Black grabs my elbow and drags me toward the front door with Skipper prancing along beside us. Green andRed are right on our heels and Red passes his gun to Black before they split off to take up spots out of sight.

The doorbell rings again so I call out, “I’m coming!” and roll my eyes because I WAS…almost…coming!

Black drags me closer, squeezing my arm painfully as he hisses in my ear.

“Don’t fuck around, Blue. You have no idea just how far I’ll go to keep them out of jail.”

I wrench my arm out of his grasp and wave him to the side with a scowl.

“Just shut up and stay out of sight. I’ve got this!”

With one last hard look my way, he slides into the closet behind the door and points the gun my way. I crack my neck from side to side, smooth down my dress, and then bend down and scoop up Skipper before opening the door.

An impatient-looking police officer greets me.

“Ma’am.”

I blink at him with a surprised look on my face like I wasn’t expecting him to be at my door.

“Officer, hi! I’m sorry but I’m all out of candy!” I tell him with a stupid giggle.

He blinks at me a few times in confusion and then shakes his head.

“Uh, that’s okay, I’m actually here to ask if you’ve seen anyone prowling around nearby. There was a robbery at one of your neighbor’s homes so we’re canvasing the area.”

I let my mouth ‘O’ in shock and gush, “OMG! Was anyone hurt?”

He frowns at me and tilts his head slightly.

“Is everything okay here, ma’am?”

I give him my best vapid smile. “Of course, why do you ask?”

I can see Black tensing up out of the corner of my eye but stay as relaxed as possible. The cop points at his mouth.

“Your lipstick…it’s smeared.”

I lift my free hand and swipe my thumb under my bottom lip and sure enough, it comes away with a red smear so I let out another dumb girl giggle.

“Oh! Oops! I’m pregaming girls’ night and must have messed up my lipstick doing shots. Thanks for catching that. Wouldn’t want to go to the club like that!”

He gives me a condescending look and says in a flat tone, “Sure, yeah, so glad I could help with that. Anyway, have you seen anyone out of place in the area?”

I twist my lips like I have to think about it and then shake my head.
