My hands gripped her hips. "Gosh, Scarlet, you can't say stuff like that."

She gave me a wicked grin. "Why? You know you like it."

I chuckled and shook my head at her.

"Here's the plan," she said. "I'll sneak out first, then after you've waited for a minute or so, you head out and tell your friends you're leaving. I'll be waiting for you at your apartment." And with that she gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and left me alone in the women's bathroom.

I waited a solid two minutes and was about to leave when the door squeaked open.

Crap.

I waited like a creepy perv for the girl to finish going to the bathroom and when she finally left, I bolted.

Quickly making my way over to my friends, I sat next to Brayden and took a sip of my now watered-down soda, trying to act normal.

"Where have you been?" he asked, looking me over and eyeing my hair. "Or should I say who have you been with? Were you hooking up with that girl you were dancing with earlier?"

My hair must have been messed up from Scarlet running her hands through it, and I hadn't thought to fix it. "Something like that."

"Get it, bro," he said excitedly, holding out his hand for me to fist bump.

I bumped his hand back. "I'm going to head out. I'll see you at practice tomorrow."

"Ah, I see how it is. You got what you came here for and now you're out," he teased.

I stood up and clapped him on the shoulder. "Don't you want me getting some rest so I can keep winning games for you?"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." He pushed my hand away. "I'll see ya tomorrow."

Chuckling, I said, "See ya."

I walked away and tried not to look like I was running out the door. I was so close to being alone with Scarlet. Just the thought of her waiting at my apartment had me turned on.

Luckily, I didn't pass any cops on the way to my apartment because I definitely broke a few laws trying to get there so fast.

I jumped out of my car and ran up the steps of my building. Opening my door, I walked in and thought I'd find Scarlet waiting for me on the couch, but she wasn’t there. I quickly glanced at the kitchen, but it was empty too. I'd given her a key a couple weeks ago, so she should have been able to get in, but where was she? A flashback of her telling me back in September that she'd meet me at my apartment and then had stood me up came to mind.

I shook my head. No, she wouldn't do that. Things were different now.

"Scarlet?" I called, waiting to hear a reply.

"I'm in your room," she said, her voice floating out of the hallway.

I gulped. My room? Scarlet had been here a lot in the past month, but we'd never gone to my room. We'd stayed on the couch, never taking things all the way.

Walking toward my room, I worked to get my breathing under control.

My door was slightly ajar, and I pushed it open to see Scarlet standing next to my dresser holding a picture frame in her hand. My shoulders instantly relaxed. She was holding the one with my whole family doing funny faces.

My mom loved doing family pictures, but the rest of us always dreaded it. At the end of each session, we'd get to do silly faces, and those always ended up being my favorite photos of them all.

She held up the photo. "You talk about your family all the time, but you've never shown me a picture."

"That one was taken last summer." I walked over and stood next to her, looking down at the photo.

She smiled as she looked at it. "It's so cute."

"That's my mom and dad, obviously," I said, pointing to my parents. "The next oldest after me is Rowan, then Rory, Ruby, Raddix, and Remy."
