“You need to leave the premises,” he ordered in a deep voice.
My eyes widened at the gun in his holster. He tucked his thumbs into his belt. Dorian stepped in front of me, blocking my view.
“Not without my Omega,” Dorian snapped. Rafe was suddenly in the armed Alpha’s face, chest puffed out.
“So fuck off,” Cade spat as he shoved the table out of the way, focused entirely on me.
The sound of a gun discharging ripped through the room. Dorian’s body jerked. He backed up and looked over at me, the rage on his face pinching into confusion. Then his eyes rolled to the back of his head, and he fell to the floor a few feet from me.
I screamed, staring at him in shock. Rafe whirled, frantic gaze searching and settling on me. Cade was suddenly tackled to the ground by four security guards. My sight blurred.Dorian’s shot!My throat felt like it was closing up.
“It’s a tranquilizer!” Fern yelled, gripping my arm, stopping me mid-lunge. “They’re okay.”
I yanked until I was free from her grip. Rafe was already on the ground, a few feet away from Dorian, and multiple little black feathers stuck out of him. He’d been hit with five of them.
I dropped to my knees. Dorian’s chest still moved. I crawled over to Rafe, my knees rubbing against the carpet. A swarm of men flooded the area, all dressed like security.
“Let’s get them out of here,” an Alpha’s voice boomed. Security began working in tandem to lift my Alphas.
Fern tugged my arm. I stumbled after her, my heart racing to the point of pain. They are alive, I kept repeating to myself, numb.
The cold outside air hit me, and it revived me.
“They’re hurt,” I cried, shoving my hands through my hair.
“No, Eva!” Fern shouted, grabbing my arm before I ran inside again. “Nothing is going to happen to them. They’ll just be escorted out and banned from any speed-meeting events.”
“B-but.” I couldn’t even articulate words anymore. Fern rubbed my arms.
“They’ll be okay, Eva, really. They have so much security because of all the Omega and Alpha pheromones at these events. This happens.”
“And you’re sure they won’t be hurt? That they aren’t hurt?” I could hear the desperation in my voice.
“They won’t be hurt,” she repeated emphatically. She frowned and cocked her head. “You know them.” It wasn’t a question, but I still answered.
“No,” I mumbled and shook my head more decisively. “No.”
She eyed me doubtfully, but she didn’t push.
“I’m going to make some calls. We have to get you away from here because something is telling me they won’t give up.”
She was already bent over her cell, her fingers moving rapidly. I trailed behind her, my thoughts a mess, and remnant fear clinging to me.
Chapter 32
Ileaned forward on the couch, scrubbing my fingers through my hair. Nine days had passed since the situation at The Bungalow.
Since we last saw Eva. A dull throb accompanied each beat of my heart.
“I don’t fucking care, Phantom, I’ll pay whatever necessary, just find my Omega,” Dorian spat into his phone and hung up.
Phantom was a mercurial dick, and Dorian had likely pissed him off. I’d never met the Alpha, and I doubted that was his name, but the mercenary Pack was damn good at what they did, especially their tech guy.
Cade stared at the ceiling, the dark smudges under his eyes emphasized by his paleness. He’d shut down, sleeping most of the time and running when he wasn’t. I flexed my hand and looked down at the fresh scabs on my knuckles. Last night, I’dgone to a nearby bar and funneled my rage into a random drunk Alpha.
It eased the restlessness for a moment, but it crashed back into me as soon as the adrenaline was gone. I would not be okay unless I had my Eva.
Dorian shoved the hair hanging on his forehead back. He’d been hounding Phantom since day one, but the fucker hadn’t found anything . . . or he wasn’t telling us.
