My heart leaped into my throat.Oh God, no.

He jumped.

I heard a thump and Snyder cursed.

Nash was partly on top of the roof, partly hanging onto the windshield. Then he shifted. I saw him through the glass, the wind tearing at his clothes and hair.

He looked like a dark knight.

My dark knight.

I smiled at him.

Then Snyder wrenched the wheel to the side.

I screamed and was tossed against the door. I saw Nash jerk, his body thrown sideways.

No.No.

If he fell at this speed, he’d die for sure.

“Stop.” I smacked at Snyder. Not just for Viv, but for Nash and me as well. I whacked at the man’s head.

Outside, Nash regained balance. He met my gaze through the windshield.

I was so in love with this man. This brave man who’d proven to me that he’d take care of me, that he’d kill for me. That he’d stand by my side and give me everything I needed.

Nash raised a gun. He aimed it directly at Snyder.

Snyder snarled.

Nash fired. The bullet hit the glass. It didn’t penetrate, but a spider web of cracks appeared.

Snyder slammed on the brakes and I gasped, flying forward. The seatbelt dug into my chest. But Nash had anticipated the move. He threw himself against the car, holding on hard.

We slowed down, tires squealing.

Then I heard a honking horn. My head whipped up and ahead I saw car headlights piercing the night.

Beside us, Bastian dropped back, sliding in behind our car.

The oncoming car whizzed past us, still honking.

Nash aimed the gun again. Snyder let out a frustrated noise and slammed his foot on the accelerator.

Nash fired.

The windscreen shattered and Snyder cried out.

Then suddenly, the car veered off the road.

No. We hit bumpy ground and I jerked against the seatbelt.

Where was Nash?

Then, the car flipped.

I screamed. Everything became a terrifying whirl.
