“You’renotdriving.” Bastain cut me off. “Not after the blow to the head you just took. Besides, I’m a better driver.”

“You are not.”

“Fine, I’m a faster driver.”

I couldn’t argue with that. Besides, we were wasting time. I yanked open the door and got in the passenger seat. Beside us, I saw Landon, Cole, and Alessio getting into the DBX SUV.

Bastian started the engine, revving it. It had a throaty, powerful growl. A second later, he sped out of the garage.

The gate at the end of the driveway was open, but the guards were waving at us. We raced past them. The DBX was right behind us.

Bastian pulled out on the road and touched the dash. “Theo? You there?”

“I’m here.” The head of security’s deep voice filled the car.

“We need the location of Snyder’s Lamborghini. He pulled out of his place a few minutes ahead of us.”

“Hold on. Snyder has LoJack on all his cars.” There was a pause that was probably only seconds, but felt like hours. “Got him. He’s heading out of Vegas. Into the desert.”

“We need to catch him,” I said.

Bastian nodded, his lips curling. “Your wish is my command.”

He sped up, and I pressed a hand to the roof. Bastian hadn’t lied. He drove fast.

Hold on, Georgie. Hold on for me.

It felt like there was a rock in my chest. What if Snyder hurt her? Shot her?

“Here.” Bastian held out a handgun.

I took the Glock and drew in a steadying breath. “I can’t lose her, Bastian.”

“I know. You won’t.” He turned the wheel, overtaking a slower car.

“She’s…everything to me. I always knew it, but I fought it. I thought it was better to leave her alone. She makes me smile, makes me want to take care of her, to make her happy. She makes me a better man.”

My friend met my gaze. “You deserve that. We’re getting her back.”

“Take the next turn onto the highway,” Theo said. “He’s just a few miles ahead of you.”

Bastian accelerated. Landon and the others had fallen back a little, but they weren’t too far behind.

The highway had emptied out. Empty desert whizzed past on either side of us. Only a few minutes later, I saw red taillights ahead of us. My heart leaped.

I’m right here, sweetheart.

Snyder wouldn’t leave this desert alive.

He’d touched my woman, taken her, hurt her.

Now, I’d hurt him.

Bastian closed the distance to the Lamborghini. The road was still empty, and a second later, he pulled out into the other lane and roared up alongside the other car.

I stared out the side window, and Snyder glanced my way. His face was tight. I looked past him and saw Georgie. Her face was pale, her eyes locked on me.

I lowered the window.
