“No, I brought it up. Though I have to say I’ve never seen you as excited as you are right now.”

“Never?” He let his gaze roam my body. Immediately, his flagging erection returned to full attention. “The only thing more exciting than learning about other cultures is learning about your body and what it does to mine.”

He tugged me closer, keeping my robe open to stare at me. Pulling me closer, he forced me to straddle his lap.

And the touch of his naked skin against mine turned me inside out. A spell cast by an enamored Light Bringer, who’d touched me magic to magic, deep inside.

“The reason they banished you from Aelle was because you disagreed with Lidra’s takeover plan against Tanselm?” Aerolus nipped at my earlobe.

I squirmed over him, sinking closer to the hard part of him wanting inside me. “There’s more to it.” I paused to moan at the pleasure cascading through me. His hands made a mockery of my ability to withstand him.

“But that can keep,” he said, pressing kisses against my cheek and down to my lips.

His hands were all over me, heat whispering over my skin, my breasts, and teasing between my legs.

I sat so close to him. Just a slight shift and I could take him inside me.

“Please,” I begged when a kiss of Light grazed my clit for the dozenth time.

Aerolus used magic and muscle to spread me wider then pulled me down over him.

The instant connection threw me into a torrid climax that refused to end. Our coupling was rough, needful. He gripped my ass hard enough to leave bruises, encouraging me to ride him faster, so that I was slamming down over him, lost in pleasure.

His massive dick pressed deeper, the sensation of being consumed so hot.

“Alandra,” he roared as he thrust up one final time, almost unseating me, and came.

I was gradually aware of the wind caressing me, holding us steady as Aerolus continued to shudder.

Until he finally said, “Ah, love. At this rate, I won’t be able to stop fucking you until we’re both too tired to do more than breathe.” He added with a groan, “And we have much to do.”

I sighed, wishing we could stay like this and avoid any unpleasantries for a while. “I know.” I stroked his hair, hugging him to me, so satisfied when he kissed me wherever he could reach, his touch soft and tender.

I sighed again. “Where should we start?”

He captured my mouth in a soul-stealing kiss.

When we broke apart, we both had a difficult time catching our breath. He said, “First we start in the shower. Then we find Arim. There are a few things he needs to know.”

I flinched hearing Arim’s name. Shadows, but I didn’t want to face him again anytime soon.

“Trust me, purie.” Aerolus gave me an intense look that made me wish I could read minds. Instead, I ignored the stupid pitter-patter of a lust-obsessed heart and focused on the practical. That Aerolus might be a Light Bringer, but he was honest, loyal, and compassionate.

He’d never intentionally hurt me.

“I trust you,” I mumbled, knowing I meant it.

And that I hadn’t said those words in nearly a hundred years.

Chapter 19

Arim: Guardian of Storm

I swore as fire burned along my side. The ache in my ribs intensified, and the blue flame I’d been trying to master felt as if it had grown into a bonfire. The smell of stale nothingness told me I floated somewhere Between, in the spaces connecting worlds.

A sudden flash threw me off balance. Before I could blink, I was pinned to a cold wall, manacled, and blanketed by a magical buffer. Surprisingly, the chill surrounding me felt natural and not at all Dark, as I’d expected.

It looked like the depths of some type of castle-like structure. Large blocks of stone were cobbled together with the requisite torture devices along the walls. Torches of magical flame provided illumination but no heat. The ground looked to be of dirt, the ceiling more stone. The air smelled stale, and the cold damp of the atmosphere struck me to the bone.
