TESSA
I couldn’t help my sigh as I snuggled into soft, silky sheets. Trust Marcus to sleep in luxury. As much as I wanted to regret my decision to sleep with him, I couldn’t. In all honesty, I’d never felt such chemistry before.
So much that I’d foregone a condom.
I paused, shocked I hadn’t realized before. Which was just stupid. But then, I’d seen a creature from another world and learned Marcus was a lot more than a handsome superstar in the office.
Pregnancy wouldn’t be a factor. I used birth control. But we definitely needed to talk about our sexual histories.
I blushed, unable to help myself. God, I was such an idiot. But who could blame me?
Humor won over dismay, and I resolved to let myself enjoy that fine-ass man. At least for the foreseeable future.
Despite his reputation, I knew Marcus had felt our connection. That hadn’t been some good-time sex. We’d really bonded. Well, physically, at least.
My cheeks burned. Marcus certainly had lived up to his reputation. “Larger-than-life” definitely applied to that body. Whew! Both the size of his ship and the motion in his ocean scored a perfect ten.
I had to laugh at how scattered my normally organized life had become. One, I’d slept with the office bad boy and refused to feel guilty about it. Two, I’d seen true evil, been face-to-face with it, and right now couldn’t care less. I’d freak out later.
A hazy sense of disquiet couldn’t ruin my post-sex peace. Who knew hot sex could feel so liberating?
Suddenly aware the sounds of the shower had stopped some time ago, I pushed the covers down to on my side, propping my head on my elbow. I stared at the partially closed bathroom door, hoping for another glimpse of Marcus’ mouth-watering body.
“Hello there,” he said in a deep voice, full of male speculation.
From the other side of the room.
Startled, since I hadn’t seen him exit the bathroom and dress, it took me a moment to respond. Realizing he must have exited from another door in the bathroom, I rolled to face him and gave him my “come hither” smile.
He wore strange clothes, a scarlet-belted overshirt over black trousers tucked into high, black boots. Marcus looked like a dark wizard from some fantasy concept.
But he was still a guy. His gaze settled over my breasts and stayed there.
“Like what you see?”
“You have no idea.” He grinned, his eyes flashing from silver to black in a heartbeat.
But he didn’t make a move. He’d turned shy all of the sudden?
I could fix that. I licked my lips and saw him swallow. Excitement flared. Maybe we could postpone returning to the world a little longer.
Except…
“What’s with your eyes?” Maybe the whole magic slash sex thing had turned his eyes from blue to gray. Hell, I’d just seen a lot of strange things. Changing eye color didn’t even make the list. “I thought they were blue.”
“They are,” came an extremely annoyed voice from behind me.
Chapter 12
Aerolus—The Wind Mage
“Sorry.” I teleported from the room in a heartbeat.
Whoa. Hadn’t been expecting to see that. At all. Not that I was complaining…
“It’s about time you returned. What did Arim have to say?” Cadmus badgered, spotting me in the living room.
Still trying to calm myself, I thought it best to keep quiet about what I’d just seen. All I needed was Cadmus teasing me about Marcus’ woman in front of Marcus to start a full-out war.
