“You’rehuge.” I mean, he’d felt big, but he looked it too.How the heck had I taken that in to my body?
And when could we do it again?
He chuckled and took me with him as he rolled to his back, using me like a blanket.
I braced myself on his chest so I could look at him, astonished I’d bonded to a man who looked this good.Who had freakingmagic.
He shrugged.“A mystery of the universe.”
“What?”
“How incredibly lucky you are.”
“Oh my God.What an ego.”
He snickered, and the sight of his pleasure and amusement had me feeling so much more for him.
“Sweet Samantha, how this keeps happening is a mystery even to me.”He nuzzled the side of my face with his own, his heart racing under mine.
Just a few months ago, I’d been in another city, dating another mess of a man, and had pledged to myself to stay single for a while, to bolster my flagging self-esteem.
What was I doing here?
Because this wasn’t dating. This was sex with a supernatural lover. This was pure, untainted lust for a virtual stranger.
Well, at least on his part.I felt something for the impatient, arrogant, royal pain.I closed my eyes in dismay. That’s right. He’s royalty, a prince in fact—from another world.
“I know you’re not happy with me, Samantha, and I can’t say I’m happy with the whole situation.”Darius held me in his arms, his ropey muscles easily caging me.
I prayed I’d been more circumspect in shielding my thoughts.I could only imagine what he’d think if he knew I had developed feelings for him.
“But you won’t be safe anywhere in your world without me.”His gaze narrowed as he watched me.“Don’t make the mistake of thinking to escape.Wherever you go, Sin Garu will be waiting. And after seeing how easily you wielded my fire, it’s a sure bet he’ll plan to use you against me.”
I sighed, any euphoria after our intimacy completely fading.
“I’m sorry.”He hugged me tight.
Two apologies in one day?Must have been a record.
I heard that.Instead of sounding annoyed, he sounded amused.
“I am completely confused.”I leaned up so I could stare down at him.“I can’t be around you without wanting to jump your bones, and for a woman like me that’s saying something. Then there’s your buddy Sin Garu?—”
“What do you mean, ‘woman like me’?”
I squirmed under his regard, not knowing how to hide that festering wound.
He frowned then nodded.“Ah.A reference to Josh-the-Asshole.”
Crap.“I told you to stop reading my thoughts.”
“I can’t help it.You’re loud when you’re upset.”
Bristling, I wanted to ignore him but sensed his honest interest and found myself explaining.“Okay, but it’s not a pretty story. It’s actually not that big a deal.”
“Samantha.Tell me.”
“Fine.”I sighed.“Josh is an asshole.”
