“You would be correct.” Funny, but for someone who had his libido racing like a freakin’ greyhound, she sounded way too rational and robotic about a possible booty call.
“So let’s do it.”
“It?”
“Have sex. No expectations of anything but having fun right now. Yes or no?”
He wanted to joke about needing some time to think about it. Or phoning a friend for advice. But he in no way wanted to ruin his chances with the woman haunting his dreams. “Hell yeah. But I need to know what your rules are.” A woman like Cass would have a ton of conditions. He could feel it.
She smiled, and he wanted to kneel at her feet and bask in her hard-assed beauty. “Good point. One, you wear a condom. I’m clean, but I don’t know about you.”
“I’m clean, but a condom works, yeah.”
“Two, I’d appreciate if this stayed between us. I’m a little old for kiss and tell, but guys seem to want to brag.”
“Not a problem. I never hit the bang-and-boast phase of puberty.”
She laughed. “Good. And third, we don’t get weird. You don’t get possessive.”
He was already feeling that. “Yeah, and you don’t get clingy.”
She seemed to consider that before agreeing. “Perfect. Just some good old-fashioned sex.”
“I was going to say fucking, but okay.”
She laughed. And Mack realized Cass hadn’t been lying. She didn’t seem bothered by coarse language, not as sensitive as other women he’d dated. But then they weren’t dating. This would be a one-time-only deal, from what she made it sound like.
So he had to do better than his best to ensure he got another chance to impress her. “Anything you don’t like?” he asked.
“Um, not really.” She blushed then glared at him, as if holding him responsible. “Let’s just get back to what we were doing last night and go from there.”
“Okay.” He took off his jacket and hung it on the chair behind him. Then he took off his boots and socks. “Do you want me here or over there?”
“Huh?”
“You know, for when you jack me up against the wall then take advantage of me?” he teased.
She turned a brighter red, which made him laugh.
“Smart ass.” Cass crooked her finger, and he followed her through the small living room to a short hallway facing three doors, one in front of him and two on the side. In front lay a bathroom. Cass took him to the larger of the two bedrooms.
Bright sunlight streamed through opened blinds that she closed.
“No show for the neighbors,” she murmured. She stopped in the middle of the room and waved her hand. “This is it. My bed. My bedroom.”
The bed had been neatly made. No clothing on the floor, everything in its proper place.
“I see that.”
“Well? Get naked.”
He laughed, pleased when she frowned. She might have instigated this encounter, but no way was he going to let her lead the action. “Hold on, Officer Sexy. I want to see that O-face. We need to do things my way.”
She rolled her eyes. “I don’t need a seduction, Mack. I already want you. Let’s get to it.”
He found her straightforwardness delightful. “Cass, you take my breath away.”
“You’re a lot of talk.”
