“What?” She swallowed down sugar with more sugar and wondered when she might go into diabetic shock. Wow, the food was good, but geez, she’d fulfilled her quota of carbs for the day.
“Oh, ah, nothing.” He sipped more coffee.
“Just say what’s on your tiny mind.”
“If I do, you’ll slap me.”
“Oh, now I have to know.”
“You sure?” He leaned back, a smirk on his face. “Because I don’t want you hitting me or calling me a pig. I can’t help where my mind wanders when I look at you.”
“Just say it.”
He sighed. “Never mind. It’s crass, and I’m trying to impress you.”
“With sugar and caffeine?”
“Well, yeah. Is it working?”
She really wanted to know what he’d been thinking. “Tell me.”
“What?”
She gritted her teeth. “Tell me what you were thinking. You had a weird look on your face.”
“You have to promise not to hit me.”
“I won’t.”
“Or be offended.”
“I can’t promise that.” What the hell had he been thinking? “I have a thick skin, Revere. I won’t bolt at the mention of something crude.”
“Mack, not Revere. I don’t want you confusing me for my annoying brother.”
“Fine. Mack.” She’d play along.
He sighed. “I was just thinking that you’re beautiful, and that face you were making when eating… Well, I wondered if you make that same face when you orgasm.”
She stared at him.
He stared back.
Then she decided to be bold and asked, “Would you like to see?”
Chapter Six
Mack stared, wide-eyed, and wondered if he’d heard what he thought he had. “Excuse me?”
Cass rounded the table and pulled him to his feet. “Do you want to see if I make that face when I come?”
His heart raced, and he swore he could hear his heart racing. “Is this a joke?” He waited for her to lull him with those bedroom eyes, then slug him.
“Look. We kissed last night, and it was pretty good.”
“No, it was spectacular.”
She smirked. “You and your words. Anyway, you wanted me then. I’m getting the impression you want me now.”
