“I’m not.” Brad shut off the shower. “Just glad to see you’re back to being you again.”

“Yeah, well, I’m not always going to be this pleasant. You’ve been warned.”

Mack strangled on laughter in the stall on the other side of Reggie.

“Oh, shut up.” Reggie smacked the wall, and Mack smacked it back.

An hour later, as they relaxed and ate dinner, Reggie felt it appropriate to call Maggie. He’d texted her earlier that morning, unable to stop himself. She’d texted him back right away with a picture of the flowers he’d given her, beautifully arranged.

He was glad he’d brought them. She’d seemed delighted, and Lord knew she deserved nice things. Especially after all thenice thingsshe’d done to him last night. At the thought, he sighed.

“Fuck on a frog’s dick,” Tex spat. “Do you have asthma or what?”

“Give him a break,” Mack said. “He got laid. He deserves to sigh a lot.” Mack paused. “Did you say ‘fuck on a frog’s dick’?”

Tex glared. “Maybe. I’m not thinking so straight. Bree’s dad is coming by Saturday morning to do a walk-through. Not a formal inspection or anything. But for some reason, the LT’s got the jitters about it and wantsmeto show him around.”

Brad’s grin showed a lot of teeth. “Ah, the future father-in-law. Should be fun.”

Tex groaned. “He hates me. He acts like he doesn’t in front of Bree, but when it’s just him and me, he’s always trying to piss me off. Can you believe he’s an Eagles fan? We’re in fucking Seattle. Who here loves the Eagles?” Tex muttered under his breath, “He’s only anti-Cowboys to screw with me. I know it.”

Mack and Reggie exchanged a look.

“Bring in a box or two from Sofa’s,” Mack suggested. “I guarantee that’ll soften him up.” A popular bakery, Sofa’s could melt even the most hardened of hearts with their scones, fritters, and delectable cupcakes.

“Hmm. He does have a sweet tooth. And I am friends with the owner. Well, part owner, but still. We’re buds.”

Mack gaped. “You are?”

Reggie wondered why the hell Tex had been keeping something so important under his hat.

Even Brad looked startled. “Seriously?”

“What?” Tex asked.

Reggie threw his hands up. Everyone at the station loved that bakery. “How have you never mentioned that before?”

“Because I can’t take advantage of the guy. Elliot’s cool.” He paused and smiled wide. “But Mack, I betyoucould take advantage of him. The face of Station 44—Mack Revere. Yeah, Elliot would appreciate someone as pretty as you think you are.”

“Huh?” Mack blinked.

“Flirt with him a little. See if you can get us a discount.”

Mack flushed. “Dick.”

“Yeah, that. Flash a little dick. Bet he throws in an eclair.”

“Ha ha. I’m not pretending to be gay to get an eclair.” Mack looked thoughtful. “But those apple fritters might be worth a shot.”

“Idiot.” Tex shook his head.

“And speaking of flashing a little dick, Alec is engaged.”

“Hey, man, that’s great.” Reggie slapped him on the back. He’d met all of Mack’s older brothers, and the three of them could be a riot, especially when piling on Mack. A tight-knit crew of cops, with Mack the oddball firefighter out, the Revere clan lived to serve.

“Alec finally came out to everyone as bi, by the way.” Something the rest of them already knew, since Alec had told them a while ago at one of Mack’s barbecues. “He kind of had to since he’s marrying Dean.”

“I thought he was dating Alyssa?” Tex frowned. “What happened to her?”
