“True, you have,” Riley agreed. “Remember Dan? Mike? How about Frank? Ugh. What a loser.”
“He had a nice car.”
“You meanhis momhad a nice car she let him drive,” Riley corrected.
Ann nodded. “Oh, right. Frank. Big dick, but a momma’s boy.”
Riley cringed. “Ew. Don’t say dick and momma in the same sentence. That’s just wrong.”
“My point,” Ann interrupted, “is that Dex is the first decent guy you’ve dated in a long time.”
“Not dating. Just having sex with,” Maya felt the need to correct. “We’re not dating…exactly. Blackmail, remember?”
“Whatever you call it,” Riley said. “It’s working. Don’t screw it up. He seems to tolerate your moods and actually likes you for more than your breasts.”
Maya frowned, ignoring the breasts remark. Though she did concede that she had a nice set. “It’s funny, but there hasn’t been that much awfulness to tolerate. I don’t think I’ve been in a bad mood with him. Weird.”
“Not weird. He makes you happy. You’ve been smiling more since Dex has been around than you have this past decade,” Ann said drily. “Go with it. What can being with Dex hurt?”
“Um, hello? Any of you met my father? The man with the broken heart who hasn’t moved on in thirty years? Werners aren’t lucky when it comes to love.”
“You’re still using your dad as an excuse? How lame.” Riley snorted. “Even for you that’s stretching things. You like Dex. Don’t be such a wuss. Bitch up.” One of Ann’s more colorful phrases, which Riley seemed to have adopted. “You don’t have to marry him, for God’s sake. Enjoying the man’s company isn’t wrong, and it just might help you get that closure you think you still need.”
“And you don’t?”
“Anson is a different thing entirely.” Riley looked at Ann, who nodded her support. “He’s a competitive asshole who needs to be kicked down a peg or ten. Dex is nice, studly, and according to you, killer-good in bed. What’s not to like?”
“He could break my heart.” A pitiful defense, but it was all she had left. Dex was too charming and amazing in bed to resist.
Riley moved closer and pulled Maya into a hug—then shifted her around and turned it into a headlock.
“Ow,damn it.”
Riley increased the pressure around Maya’s neck while Ann laughed. “If he breaks your heart, we’ll break him. Right, Ann?”
“Right. I’ll make Jack tear off his arms and legs, then we’ll shove them down his throat.”
Maya rasped, “Aren’t you a little too bloodthirsty to be teaching second grade?” She coughed when Riley laughed and tightened her hold. “Riley, get off.”
“I will, but only if you tell us all about Dex’s antics in bed. Some of us only have gingerbread men in our lives, you know?”
Finally, the woman eased up. Maya shoved her arm away. “Just for that, I’m not going to sugarcoat his skills to make you feel any better.”
“Bitch.” Riley groaned. “Tell us.”
“You asked for it. He’samazingin bed. Kinky, dominating, andwaymore than six inches. His mother should have named him Studly McCocks-A-Lot, because he’snevertired.”
“I think I hate you,” Riley muttered.
“Me too. And I have Jack.” Ann tried to look sad, then blew it by laughing. “How about his O face? Hot or not?”
Maya frowned. Yep, even in orgasm, the man was smokin’. “Totally hot. Do you know how hard it is to find something I don’t like about the guy? I have to make shit up. That’s downright annoying.”
“Well, if you need a list of bad traits to look for, I could list a bunch of Anson’s for you,” Riley offered. “Some of it’s bound to be genetic.”
Ann nodded. “Sounds good. Then I’ll tell you how aggravating Jack can be when he, ah… Well, he stacks his clean socks and leaves them on the dresser for longer than I’d like. Although he does put them away before bed. But we’re only newly sleeping at each other’s places, so he might get neater and more annoying.” At Riley’s look, she nodded. “I’m sure he will.”
“I hate you too,” Riley said.
