“Oh, sorry.” He let her go after a kiss.

“Good, I can breathe again.” She laughed. “But seriously, I’m happy for you. Sad for you about the house, but happy you’re making this decision for you. Do you think your family will understand?”

He sat on a stool at the counter, and she sat next to him. “My mom will think I’m crazy. Same with my stepdad. Cade is excited for me to move back to Hope’s Turn, though. We never really get to see each other much, and he’s still probably my best friend, even though he’s six years older.”

“What about your dad?”

“You mean, the guy who thinks I’m supposed to pay all his bills and get him whatever he wants because he made me? That guy?”

“Oh boy.”

“Yeah.” He let out a breath. “I hate the guy. I know that’s not a healthy thing to say, but I do. He’s toxic. We don’t talk. And no matter what he tells the tabloids, I don’t respond.”

She cringed. “The tabloids?”

“Yep. I’m a loser. I think I’m better than him. I’m a disloyal son. It’s all been written before.” He paused. “I hadn’t thought about that when I brought you here, that the paparazzi might take pictures of us out together.”

She shrugged. “Who cares?”

“I mean, we could just stay in.”

“And fuck like rabbits?”

He gaped at her.

“Sorry, that just popped out.”

Not used to hearing Piper talk like that, he just stared.

“What? I’m just being honest.”

“Sure. We can stay in and fuck like rabbits.” He couldn’t help the smile that overtook him. “We’ll order in.”

“Hold on, buddy.” She leaned close to kiss him. “I didn’t say we should stay in. I was commenting on what you were trying to say without saying it. I’d like to walk around the city. I haven’t been to Bellevue in ages.”

“Really?” He couldn’t wait to walk around with her. “I’d love to. But we should shower first.”

She frowned. “I showered before you cooked.”

“But you’re going to get all messy again.

“I am?”

He lifted her in his arms and kissed her breathless. “Sure are. We only christened the bedroom. We have a lot more rooms to go before we’re done being bunnies.”

She laughed. “If you’re sure you have the endurance for it.”

“Piper, with you, I have a problem not being hard. Trust me, I’m up for it.” He put her hand over him. “See?”

“Wow. I guess a younger man has his uses.”

He kissed her. “Yes, he does. Now how about you bend over the counter so we can get our weekend really started?”

Chapter 18

Piper had the best time. After having yet another orgasm—Grant needed to get into the hall of fame for those alone—she and he cleaned up and headed out, with Grant wearing jeans, a blue coat, and a plain ballcap to mask his features. She wore a jacket and scarf along with jeans and cute boots but decided to forego a hat. The weather had cooled, and she swore she smelled snow in the air though Grant told her the forecast didn’t call for it.

But with the rest of the weekend to relax and enjoy being in the city with nothing to do but have fun, she would happily have run through the white stuff.
