“Just lean on me, okay?” He tucked her under his arm, walking with her back to her dream kitchen. “Wow. This is amazing.”

“I know. It’s got all the top-end appliances, a butler’s pantry around the back, and look at that huge refrigerator.” She sighed. “So pretty.”

He glanced around. “Do you like the decor? Is this your style?”

She shrugged. “I mean, this place is move-in ready. It’s gorgeous. A little more log-cabin-like than I’d have it.”

He leaned on a countertop, looking right at home. “What would you change?”

“I’d lighten it up a little. I do like the darker floors, but the kitchen should be white or cream, not so dark. And the paint colors in a few of the rooms would do better if they were lighter. Then the dark, wooden trim work would stand out more, and the feel would be a little more welcoming. But that’s just my opinion.”

He glanced around. “Huh. You’re right. So when do I get to look at your house?”

“My place?” She studied him. “Why?”

“Oh, you sound nervous. Got any dead bodies in there? Of old boyfriends, maybe?”

She laughed. “Yeah, right. How about you let me see your place first?”

“Sure thing. We can fly out tonight and be back by tomorrow.”

She blinked. “Ah, I was kidding.”

“I’m not. Hey, want to take a weekend away? Just let me know.”

How nice to be able to leave on a whim. Heck, she’d bet he flew first class everywhere. Not that she was judging. She would if she could. Plus he had to worry about fans mobbing him if he got recognized taking a regular flight.

“Seriously. We can go this weekend if you want.” He smiled.

“I’ll think about it.”

He nodded.

“What do you think about the house?”

“I like it. Do you like it?” Before she could ask why he cared what she thought, he said, “I’d like a woman’s take on the place. You’re a real estate agent, so you know houses. What do you think of the place?”

“Honestly? It’s a fabulous location. A dream home. I know the previous owners, and they’re good people who took excellent care of the place. You have an ex pro athlete on one side of you and a neurosurgeon on the other. Plus, the place has plenty of amenities, great land, and as you see, a terrific view. You’re also closer to the mountain for skiing, if that’s your thing.”

“So do you like it or what? You haven’t said.”

“I said it’s beautiful.”

“And?”

She huffed. “And I love it. It’s my dream home. I’d live here happily just so I could stare at the kitchen all day long. Happy now?”

“That wasn’t so hard to admit now, was it?” He winked. “So are they asking a fair price?”

She shook her head. “I’d take off a hundred thousand if I was making an offer. But that’s me.” She told him the price, and he didn’t bat an eye.

“Something to consider. But there are more homes for me to look at, I take it?”

“Plenty more. The next one has a pool and is closer to town, yet still private. I also have a house on the outskirts of town, as well as one near your brother on the westside that you might like.”

“I’m game. Let’s see them.”

Two hours later, Grant had seen enough. He could tell Piper was getting tired, though she refused to show it. Had she not gotten any sleep last night? He’d slept like the dead. After making love to his future wife, he’d been so relaxed he could have slept the night and the rest of today away as well. Instead, he’d been up and raring to go right after his shower because Piper had been hurrying him to leave.
