He lifted her off him and turned her around.

She blinked as he hurried to fit himself back inside her, still hard, but now she would see him face-to-face.

“I wore a condom, don’t worry.”

“You are so sexy.” She wrapped her arms around his massive shoulders and kissed him. But this time the kisses were languorous, soothing, sexy yet comforting.

“Ich liebe dich.” He’d been saying that on and off, and as much as she wanted to know what it meant, she just liked hearing it in his sexy voice. His mouth was made for sin. What he could do with that tongue between her legs was lethal.

“How are you so good at sex?”

“I am good, yes.” A lot of male satisfaction in those dark eyes. “I like to know what pleases my partner. But with you, it’s so easy. Everything about you is worth pleasing, and I want to take my time making love to you. Kissing you.” He showed her just how much he liked kissing. “Touching you.” He cupped her breasts, rubbing his thumbs over her nipples while he looked into her eyes. “Holding you.” He sighed and kissed her again. “I never want to move.”

“Sorry. But you’re moving whether you want to or not.” He slipped out of her, and she hurried to reach down and catch him. Then she pulled the condom off and placed it on the corner of the tub, folding it over itself so it wouldn’t spill.

“So sad. A waste of so many fine swimmers.” He didn’t smile, so she didn’t realize he’d been joking about what was in the condom at first. But when she did, she made a face.

“Sperm jokes are stupid.”

“So why are you smiling?”

“I’m not.” She was. “You are so much more than you seem.” She let him cradle her against his chest and studied him, caressing his neck and arms, aware of yet another bruise forming over his shoulder.

“Oh?” He watched her, his gaze roaming her face, focused on her.

“When I first met you, all I saw was a big German guy who growled at people and scared most of Ray’s customers.”

“Did I scare you?”

“Not scared, maybe intimidated a little.” She touched his jaw, wondering what he’d look like without the beard. Wondering if she could handle all that handsome without the facial hair. “You still had the words though. You said my hair was like sunlight. I remember.”

“It is.” He touched a stray curl. “I love the bounce.”

She grinned. “I keep it natural, but I can do so much with it. Bouncy, straightened, combed, braided.”

“I like it the way you like it.”

“Good answer.”

He smiled.

“Now when I see you, I see that smile. I see how you protect people. Me especially.”

He shifted, now looking uncomfortable with her praise. “I don’t like bullies.”

“Me either.” She kissed his cheek, and he sighed and curled his arms around her. “You’re sweet and kind. You give me presents every day, which you don’t have to, you know.”

“Ja.I must. I am winning you over with trinkets to be your valentine.”

She chuckled. “Oh that. Sure. You can be my valentine now, if you want.”

“Nein.I must earn it.”

“Sure, sure.” She patted his chest. “Where was I?”

“I’m amazing and sweet and kind.”

“I don’t think I said amazing.”
