He pulled open her door. She hadn’t even realized he’d left the car. With a disgruntled huff she tried to get out. And nearly broke her neck as her underwear tangled around her ankles.
She gave a mortified squeak and tugged the offending items up her legs.If he laughs I’m going to die.She risked giving him a quick glance, and he didn’t look on the point of laughing. Just fascinated. As though watching her trying to adjust her dignity was the best thing he’d seen all week.
She ignored his helping hand and managed to haul herself out of the car and stalk up the driveway. He joined her, and even had the nerve to wind his arm around her waist.
“Oh, are you coming in?” She couldn’t help the acid note in her voice, even if she wanted him to come in with her more than anything.
“You’d better fucking believe it.”
“I’ve gone off the boil now.” She hunted for her keys in her bag so he couldn’t see how badly she was lying.
“I don’t think so.” He sounded so damn sure of himself. She shoved the key into the lock and flounced up the hall. It would serve him right if she just left him on the doorstep, panting with need.
At the door to her flat she turned to look at him. “Just so you know, I’m really pissed off with you.”
He grinned as if she’d just made his night. “I love it when you swear. It gets me hard.”
She let out an exasperated huff, but only because it was impossible to stay mad with him and she wasn’t ready yet to let him know. “I thought you were already hard.”
He backed her up against the wall. “Are we going to stand out here all night discussing it? Or do you want me to take you out here? I will. All you have to do is say the word.”
Outhere? When the tenant next door might appear at any moment? A tremor of lust rocked through her at the thought. She licked her lips and gripped her keys until the metal dug into her skin.
“I don’t think that’s—”
He cut her off, his mouth claiming hers. By the time he released her she was gasping for air.
“You think too much, that’s your trouble.” He took the keys from her limp fingers and opened the door. “After you, princess.”
